RPW back online - and open to answer any questions

Been a while sinve i have been on the forum and that is mostly because of our work commitments have grown immensley, a number of large group sales especially the very succesful group buy of extractors to the UK etc.

I also lot the links to the forums and have been perusing the UK forums a lot recently as we now have some new dealers in the UK who has had most of my FTO attention.

Anyway if anyone has any questions for me on any of the RPW products etc here is the time to ask. I can't promise to get onto the forums as much these days as I use to so I keep track of this thread for as long as it is popular and try to help as many people as I can.

I think I know some of the popular quesions already so I will start the ball rolling

(A) RPW Race Extracotrs for FTO - no these have not been made and will not be made at this time. There did not seem to be enough interest initially and then with other things happening within our own workshop, we were just never abel to get back on top of it. We are still producing and have stocks of our street design which has proven to provide 15 - 18hp improvemens at the wheels - as reported by all the UK owners who did this conversion.

(B) Turbo kit - for those who have noted we have pulled this from our website as well. Unfortunatly our UK experience did not work out and we were never able to get hold of the piping that was made no the car in the UK. AT this moment we will only do custom turbo kits within our own shop in WA until we have more time, get more stff and are able to focus on some kits again.

(C) 6A12/13 hybrid engine - we are nearly finishined assembling this 2.5 litre V6 mivec engine and have several buyers for the first one already. Will be interesting to view the results of this in an FTO as it is one monster of an engine.

(D) Camshafts- RPW is soon beginning a large run of Mivec and Non Mivec billet camshafts - these are not regrounds which is something we have never endorsed. TO be honest camshafts are really only necessary for extremely modded car and for the average user I can't honestly say it woudl be worthwhile doing for the cost of them. But for those who want them, our billet profiles will allow us to basically provide any grind you may want.

(E) Throttle Bodies - we do have some exchange FTO units in stock and contrary to what people beleive, they are not designed to specifically improve horsepower, although there is usually a 1 - 2 hp gain, but to improve low rpm throttle response. This is not something you see but feel when driving. We are also looking at adapting a new twin tb system but that will be sometime in the making.

I think that covers the basics but again feel free to ask any question you would like. I know that like any forum there will be lovers and haters of RPW products, and I welcome all comments etc. We have never shirked from criticism where it is justified and just try to honestly do our best.

Anyway enough talking and I look forwrad to talking to the FTO community at large in more detail.

David, as most of the products you are offering are "performance" products, I think the thing that most people would like to see is dyno graphs showing what difference these items make.

It's not so much the HP & KW figures, it's the actual graph so we can see the change it makes across the entire rev-range. Obviously this would meen doing a "before" and "after" dyno, but it would eliminate a lot of the questions and confusion.

You wouldn't buy other equipment for your car (e.g. head unit, speakers etc.) without first looking at the specs or trying it out. Performance equipment should be no different. It's not possible for us to "try before we buy" so therefore we need to see the "spec sheet" (dyno). In a similar manner, people's opinions and interpretations of the "before" and "after" difference is purely perception and prone to error, therefore it is important to have something like a dyno graph to show exactly what it has done across the rev-range.

The other thing to consider is that not all modifications other gains in the same rev-range, and therefore someone looking for a gain down low would probably be looking for different equipment to someone looking for gains in the top end. Again, a dyno graph showing the effect the performance mod has on the entire rev-range would clearly show where the gains are.

i RPW are willing to fork out for a before and after dyno of either the throttle body or the extractors, Maybe we could work something out whereby RPW can use my GPX tip for testing. RPW is conveniently only a 15 minute drive from my house.
I've noticed in the past that when RPW require a test car in Perth for the fitment of a new mod they come up with, i don't think they've previously done dyno testing.
Therefore if David wants to get some results of mods done on an Australian FTO, i'd be more than happy to put my car forward for the greater good of the FTO community in Australia

if something were to blow on testing who pays for repairs?

i've offered in the past to do dyno testing for RPW products and they have not taken up the offer.

Whilst i'm sure RPW sell products that work it would be nice if they put their money where their mouth is so to speak and either published results or sent them to me to have them independantly tested (which would be better than not having products independantly tested).

David,

Regarding the 6A13/13 hybrid.

How much taller is the engine than the 6A12 mivec?

As I was told by Mitsubishi that they were going to use a 6A13 mivec engine for the version R , but gave up to the height of the 6A13 block with the Mivec heads.

Will it Fit?
Will it use the original engine mounts?

I am quite interested in the hybrid engine too, pending dyno results of course...

Oh wait, this is RPW we are talking about, guess I won't be getting an engine then
