Worn out steering rack boots

mine is all worn out, any 1 knows what their purpose/ use. do i have to change it?

They keep the dust out. They should be replaced and are a common "break-down" on FTO's.
I'm just about to replace mine, got a new set from Mike Gibbs Panel House at Slacks Creek (QLD), only set me back about $20.
I'm actually replacing all my boots actually.

you talking about the CV boots??? don't buy them from mitsubishi... i had a broken one and got UAS to replace it without even bothering to ask the price... (stupid me)... Mitsi charge about 140 for a bit of plastic and a couple of tubes of lube..

shouldn't just gone to ansell :)

there are plenty of companies around that should be able to match it for you and do it cheaply... you do need to rplace these however as dust will get in and eventually destroy the ball joints.

i saw them in FUNKY PRODUCTS, under MOT engine parts. Its looks like rubber thing. is it the one u referring to?
