One of my mate owns a civic so i turn up to a Honda cruise thing, and they said civic will kill a FTO and they drag with one of them

Apparently they drag a tip FTO, i drive a manual and i think it's a load of crap, what do you guys think? 8O

from the specification, even an FTO GR has more torque, more power, more cylinder, and bigger engine size than a VTI-R civic (kerb weight is a bit heavier though)

unless it was a GS FTO, inexperienced driver, or more people in the car, i believe there shouldn't be any problems with civic

my cousin drives an auto GLI civic and he takes pride in red-light GP
he reckons he can kill my fto, but I just never prove it to him for his own sake :)

Hahahhaha this is so funny, is like lots of member here who have the N/A GPX reckon they can kill a S2000 as well. Go figures, whats goes around, comes around.

But back to the topic, I had a tip GPX, & i never lose to any civic VTiR, SiR (JDM), I had a mate that had done a bit of work in one (extractor, fuel/air control, VTEC YO!!!!! control, full exhaust, pod filter)but its still no match.

The only way we lose to a Civic is when they turbo charged or a engine conversion to a Teggy Type R or S2000, which i believe theres only 4-5 of them in Oz had done this type of N/A conversion. I almost brought a JDM model which had the Teggy Type R conversion, & it will rip a GPX with its lighter weight.

Type-R on anything means that it is fast - probably more than a match for the FTO. Especially the civic, light weight and at least 180hp (in the EK).

VTi-R however is a different story. They are a very good car, sound great and go well. But not as well as an FTO.

As for the GLi auto, tell him he's dreamin'!

no chance....
thr FTO is the faster car of the two.
A mate has a civic w/ extractors full exhaust , filter etc and he has no chance againsy my GPX...while on drive with normal start of the lights......
should organise a cruise with the Civic club... any takers??

Why bother wasting time & petrol, knowing you win for sure???

According to my little quarter mile list:
FTO GPX: 15.0s quarter mile
Civic VTI-R: 16.1s quarter mile
(roughly)

I know the dead donkey is being beaten, but... no chance!

I've been chomping all of my friends VTEC YO!!!!! by 3 cars or more.

I've chomp a couple or DC2 type-r as well both at launch n rolling start.
quarter panel on launch and about a car length on rolling start.

DC5-R kicked my a$$ though a couple of times (half a car length)....and i got chmpoed as well by my frends teggy with h22 type-s coversion but most of the time side by side....

I guess its always comes down to the driving factor. one alwasy has to be a better driver (most often the case)

I would be in for that!

It would be interesting to see what they have got. I probably should not say this here, but I am a big Honda fan myself, and you should not easily write off what they can get out of their cars. Also, straight line is just one thing. Set up correctly, they can be an awesome little track car that would murder probably everyone here.

However, I'll still keep my FTO.

ahh thats right... is that the gold/orangy dc2 integra? az and i are still head to head... although i think hes going easy on me :P

mrx: i think the reason why they can get so much out of their cars is because there's a huge aftermarket for honda's... i was driving a civic with a worked b16 engine in it the other day and it felt pretty fast... pretty sure itd give me a good run...
