WHEELHOP

Guys,
I went down WSID wednesday night for 1/4 mile run.
Unfortunately I only managed to hit 14.8 @ 91MPH with a 2.2 60" as opposed to my prevoius best 14.6 @96MPH with 2.18 60".
I been experiencing lotsa wheelhop on 1st gear almost out of all the 6passes....causes my time to go slower. I tried elliminating the hop by letting go of the gas a little bit but this causes the rev to drop tremendously and bogged down big time.
tyres are KUMHO ECSTA V70A 205/45/16 semislick n pressure set to 20psi and a super stiff TEIN HA Coilovers with rear set to the stiffest and front to mid.
what ways are there to elliminate wheelhop?..or at least lessen d chance of getting it? I think my lower engine mount r busted in which i believe d reason why I got mad amount of hopping compare to from before during Drag combat.
whats d best way to fill my mount to a more solid ones??

lower the pressure on the front tyres and put the front suspension on the softest setting.
BTW, what pressure were your front tyres at?

on normal street driving, my tyres are set to 32PSI
and during drag i set them to 20PSI....stil gives lotsa wheelhop.

hey dude...
try looking on the whiteline website for a bushing kit to increase your castor...apparently that reduces wheel hop... i definitely dont get as much wheel hop anymore after putting them on....
im pretty sure theyll have one for a lancer too

Castor isn't an object, it's a suspension setting =)
If you're looking onto the wheel from the side of your car, castor is the angle at the top of your your suspension tower between an imaginary vertical line and the suspension tower itself. Changes in castor means wheel would move either towards the front or the rear of the car. Of course this means a small change in height depending on spring loads and the angle of castor.
I don't remember which way is positive and which way is negative but if you had a castor of 0 degrees, your suspension tower would be vertical (of course when the car is at rest)
There's bound to be a good illustration somewhere on the internet of all the changes that can be made with suspension ( and there's a lot of them )

im pretty sure its cheap....its just a couple of bushes that they replace on your lower control arm...
wheel hop will be killing your lsd too... apparently its really bad for them

I only get wheel hop when I put the power down too hard. I have found for the smoothest launches ride the clutch a bit, keep the revs up and try to get a little bit of wheel spin.
The hopping you are getting is caused by the wheel breaking and regaining traction, against the compression of your suspension. If you control the wheel spin so the car breaks traction evenly for the first metre or two, then allow it to grip, you will get a very fast launch.
I know it seems double dutch to say spin the wheels, but it makes you launch quicker than bouncing off the line.
I think there is a a couple of topics on launching that discuss this elsewhere on the forum?
Apart from driving technique, suspension mods are the only other way to fix it, as the guys suggested.

Yeah thats one of the technique Im using to avoid the massive wheelhop on first gear.....i let the wheel to spin then slide d clutch till i get traction then floor the gas but i get bad 60" time.....but i guess its just a matter of practice till i get this one done right.
Just to let you know as well that my car is not a FTO......its a CE Lancer Coupe with the 6A12 Mivec conversion.....so thats another factor probably that gives me more hopp than a normal FTO.
