1995 custom ordered 4 speed tip GS FTO with full GPX options (climate control, electric windows, scuff plates, rear wing etc, etc, etc)

* 18 inch ROH Adrenlin wheels
* 70 000 kilometres
* month old paint job (candy apple green metallic)
* custom black interior
* K&N pod filter
* SS Commadore exhast tip
* unichip + custom tuning with speed de-limiter

In my opinion is way over price. Nothing special about the mod, & its a 1.8L Lancer engine too. :roll:

Unfortunately you'll never get back the cost of any mods you make, including paintwork and interior.

While this sounds like a nice car, the reality is that the most sought after are the GPX and GPvR because of the MIVEC engine. Recently a number of GPXs have sold for under $15K, so to me, unless you find someone who falls madly in love with the look of the car, $25K is way off the mark.

I agree...
I don't know why someone would even consider doing those mods to a GS in the 1st place... :roll:

no offense to all those non-mivec owners -
but i wouldnt consider buying an FTO if it wasnt mivec.

mmm drop 10g off that price then u'd maybe consider it... but i'd keep looking if i were you. You'll be able to find a mint (or close to) FTO GPX for under 20ish or a mint GPVR for 22 or less..

Are you sure it is a GS? Not a GR? (1.8L 4c Vs 2.0 V6 non-mivec)
I didn't think there were any GS's in Australia?
The FTO is a great car to drive, and looks greats but unfortunatly it is ten years old, an import (very expensive insurance, services and repairs) and tuned to the max out of the box (no effective upgrades).
I traded a very clean manual, black GPX with exhaust, pod, cruise control, facelifted bumper, EL dials, 18" Lenso's, tint, 85000Km for $12,000.
Dealers have them at about 20-22K advertised and it is common knowledge that imports are heavily marked up. You should be looking a good FTO from a dealer that pays 1/11 GST for 16-18 with a warrenty. So privatly I'm guessing people sell for 12-16K? Will anyone share what they actually sold, not advertised, there FTO for?

Since I'm rambling I calculated exactly how much the FTO has cost me over the last three years and found out it is actually cheaper to own a brand new WRX, cheaper Insurance, services, no repairs (6yr warrenty), similar fuel. But that is based on the 25K I payed for the FTO in the first place.
Food for thought.
John.

There are a couple of GS's in Australia

Under the current vehicle import/compliance scheme - the GS's do not comply with enough of the new import regulations to be brought into the county. The GR's/ GPX's and GPvR's do - but no one has bought the licence to comply and import them yet.

On another note - In Sydney - The quotes for me were the same to insure my FTO as it would have to insure a WRX.... (different insurance companies though - but same price)

Cheers

"$25 000 too much to expect?"

R u selling or buying!?!?
$25,000 seems a bit 8O for 1995 GS.

it may have "full gpx options"... but no MIVEC!? :wink:

Ive seen GPvr and other seriously mod FTO's for simar price if not less.

Good luck neway!

For me, 25 Male, rating 1 (60% no claim) a $12,000 FTO costs $1400 per year (unique) while a $47,000 WRX costs $1200 (suncorp). And I get rating 1 for life and a 2year new for old replacement. I was surprised. Interestingly is that some insurance companies won't insure the wrx but will insure the FTO and vice versa.
