FTO AUSTRALIA

Started and then died after about 1 minute.
Car now won't start, it's cranking but won't start.

Checked for Spark and no spark.

There is power to the coil packs.

No ECU errors.

Suspected IFS - so checked continuity across 1 and 2 ok, but also put it in my car - fine.

What next?

Crank angle sensor?

CAS should throw code 2, IFS makes sense to me

It's not the IFS, I put it on my car and mine started fine.

Crank angle sensor - I would have expected a code too but maybe they don't always throw one?

The alternator has been removed, cleaned and then put back, and then we have this issue which could be completely unrelated.
Also the wiring loom to the alternator is dodgy and always has been, his car is a GPX but the wiring has an additional plug - a 2 pin GR one patched in. I'm thinking that sometime in the past someone tried to fit a GR alternator.
Surely the alternator wouldn't cause this?
And I also need to check which plug is currently being used, surely someone couldn't have used the 2 pin plug on a 4 pin alternator - it just wouldn't fit would it?

(We didn't remove the alternator by the way, it's at a garage so that why I don't know but im going to ring them)

What about the ignition relay in the fusebox - would it not even be cranking if that had blown?

I had no code once and i had all three cas wires torn by the belt

Although it's a bugger I sort of hope the CAS is duff cause at least we'll know what the issue is.
I've heard lots about belts tearing them up but do they just blow sometimes? I suppose any sensor can go eh.

Not the CAS, garage tested it on an oscilloscope.

And now new problem, the car won't even crank I've been told.

Just a clicking noise coming from the engine bay now, like a relay clicking, it's not cranking at all.
Battery has been on charge.

Thats the sound I got when my starter died

Not sure why it was cranking before though but not starting.

Yeah just bash the solenoid a little bit, usually they’ll work after a fe whacks, had mine like that for months

Bypass wire / switch has been temporarily fitted in the engine bay to the starter motor and the car now starts, immobiliser sh*t itself?

Rowan has got his car home now, brought it round earlier for me to take a look at why it won't start.
I focussed on the immobiliser and yeah it turns out that it shat itself as I've bypassed (and removed) it and now starts fine, I've taken out the 'hotwire' switch that was in the engine bay too.
