i think its normal for your lights to dim when u turn up the sub, coz the amps will be using more and more power...
maybe its your battery, does it take longer or harder to ignite the engine in the morning? or maybe the connections to the back of the lights are loose?

Doesnt sound like the actual bulbs...perhaps the connection, but that is unlikely since the turn and slot in and if they were loose they would probably drop right off and it should be more of an off/on problem not dimming.. You can easily remove the dials and open them up but I would more think it is the battery or other power related problem, although you should also be seeing other signs of that as well...
If you remove the stock dials behind it should also brighten it up as well.

Are we talking about dials which are lit by the bulbs behind the dash or EL dials which light up themselves when electricity is passed through them?

If you running high power audio gear, then yes your light with dim or "jump", all you have to do is get a capacitor, it holds & feed the voltage/charge to your amp properly when you need it (Pumping out heaps of bass or just mega loud). So it won’t or shouldn’t affect other electronics. What size cap its depends on your system.
Ohhh my short definition for a "Cap" for all you I.T geeks is "UPS"

yeah im talking about the ones that dont have a light bulb.. i think as i dont think there will be enough room behind it.. it is so anoying cutting out and coming back and then dimming then normal... so unpredictable... my drive is like a light show .. anyway... so u think that a compaciter would fix it? how do i install one ?
