Hey guys.
Recently bought a Fto, and just had a few questions which i was wondering if anyone could help me with.

please excuse me if the questions may seem a bit simple, but i am completely useless when it comes to cars, especially when manuals as this is my first manual car i have owned.

When i hit about 7krpm the car starts to make a noise which i want describe as a deep grunt. - is this "mivec"?
i was told mivec and VTEC YO!!!!! are basically the same concept, so i was expecting to hear the same loud squeal that i do in my friends integra, but it was the opposite

If this sound is not suppose to occur does anyone know what could be causing it?

cheers

Welcome.
No it's not supposed to grunt. Although it's not the same as v-tech, it will be more of a screaming noise from the engine. Sounds mint ! Aaaand someone will confirm weather this is correct or not, but I think mivec comes on at 5000rpm.

You were probably hitting the rev limiter and it was choking

U should take photos and a video.
Are you sure you have a mivec fto?

Pretty sure it was 7krpm but i could be mistaken. Will check again tomorrow to confirm, and take a video to help demonstrate the sound im trying to describe.
And i assume it has a mivec engine considering it says "mivec" on it lol.

And if you try and rev it out before it is warmed up properly, the engine will retard itself to protect from damage and the noise it makes doing this is not pleasant.

Sounds pretty spot on then.
Got a bit excited after i got it, jumped on the highway within under a min of turning the car on. which is when i noticed it.

Didn't notice any change in tone or feel lower in the rev range at like 5500 though.
is mivec noticeable? or is it possible for it to not be working?

And definitely a 6 cylinder?

There are a number of things that can cause MIVEC not to engage, however. How's the oil level?

Have you tried after driving the car for 10-15 minutes? Or was it just the time mentioned before?
