Haven't driven the car in a long time and it was running rough...flat engine sound loss of power and Mivec.

Pulled the diagnostic codes and it says detonation sensor.

I think the fuel in the car is close to 7 months old could that be an issue?

Just wanna clear one thing off the list before troubleshooting the rest of the systems.

Wont help, but probably not. In the past, ive had some fuel in the tank thatwould have been 18 months old. Ran a bit rough. Try some injector cleaner. That fixed mine after I put more fuel in.

I was thinking more of the octane content degrading over the brisbane summer.

I disconnected the knock sensor and the engine was the same so looks like I might try replace it.

Remove the intake manifold to get to it yeah?

Need to remove both the upper and lower parts of the manifold.

Cheers for the heads up Vectose.

I don't have a spanner to fit the sensor...anyone know what size it is or alternate methods of removal?

I forget if it was 24mm or 27mm.

Can use a large shifter to remove it, or cut the plug off if you're replacing it and use a socket if you have one large enough.
