Hi guys,

So I have been searching the forum about the alarm and stuff but can't really find what I am after. Most people here talking about Mongoose M80 and Viper, but which one is really better than the other? And does anyone know who can install it or where to get this stuff installed in NSW? Do I really need professional to get it done considering I'm just gonna get it insured with just car (third party).

I did my research around the forum but I'm sorry if I missed something and it turns out some of these question already covered somewhere in the forum.

Thanks

Remove the internal door rods to the inside door lock. Due to the FTO being pillarless, you can bend out the glass and flick the inside door lock to open it. Remove the door rods and that doesnt work anymore.

Does that stop the doors being locked from inside the car?

Yes it does. Wholocks from the inside anyway though, not me. And if someone does manage to get in, if you lock it with the fob while they are in there, they wont get out  .

Yeah, you got the Mongoose M80 right? Did you purchase the alarm from them as well or just the installation? And how much did you pay?

Bought 1 mongoose from them and installed. Got all the window closers and whatnot off them too. However, was years ago so am sure prices would have gone up by now.

Other 3 cars had alarm purchased separately. Those systems were either off ebay, or picked up as sales specials from a closing down business.

Find some prices on ebay, call D'sire and also see what they offer. D'sire use to be pretty competitive and usually beat any special I could find at the time..

This gets you halfway there:

http://www.completefto.com.au/CompleteFTO.asp?aid=143

Once you have the door lining off, locate the rod that connects to the door lock.Itll be a round metal rod about 1mm thick (silver). Follow the rod to the door lock at the back of the door. There will be a little green (I think) clip that swivels on the rod and holds it in place. Its a bit hard to get to,but you need to release the clip. This will enable you to remove the rod. Store the rod outof each door somewhere in case you want to put them back in at some stage.

Hope this helps

You guys realise the car can be broken into silently and easily with or without the rod right?

A half arsed theif will never go via the window takes too long.

I can tell ya how it's done and is a very common way of doing it. Make your rod trick sound stupid.

Well, I know thats how mine was broken into because I could see where they levered the glass out, so its not a waste of time - itll stop some.

I would be interested in knowing what you are referring to though, so if you could send me a PM that would be great. Maybe I can work out how to stop that one as well.

Well it happened to mine and it took me ages to find out what they did. Your door handle bolts onto th door. The part where the bolt goes through the handle is plastic. All you do is shove a screw driver behind the handle and break the handle. Requires so little force that it left no mark or dent on the door panel.

Found out its a common way to break into lancers etc.

If someone really wants your car, they'll just drag it up a tilt tray & f*ck off with it lol
