Didn't you notice your temperature was higher than usual?

I remember when 1 of my thermo fans died the temperature was sitting much higher.
Of course, it probably could be mistaken for the 40+ degree days :\

I noticed it monday, wasnt bad, so I did attribute it ti the hot weather, but yesterday and today it got muuuuch worse.

So I got a coolant flush, new rad cap and the thermos fixed and still runs a bit hot. Not sure if weather or, hopefully not what my mechanic said, a head gasket

I have never had a car (aside from the smurf - fucked sensor, wasn't actually hot) run above temp no matter how hot the day was.

New radiator and/or thermostat required.
If it was head gasket the engine would be running rough and you would have heaps less power.

Take off the radiator cap (when cold).Start car and look for bubbles. If no bubbles, gasket most likely fine.If bubbles, either a leak in the system somewhere or blown head gasket. I agree with Phil though, most probably need a new radiator.

As soon as u overheat a thermostat it will never open correctly again, so change it asap.

That will be a thermo sensor...you will need a thermostat!

....oh, it was 47 degrees on the way home today (45 degrees in the workshop

) and my temp gauge didn't rise even slightly above normal.
So the FTO will only get hot if something is wrong, doesn't matter on the temp of the day.

Should I replace the sensor anyway?
Checked my reciept, turns out the mechanic did my thermostat too
