hi im getting a metal intake pipe made to go to my air pod. the plastic one of the car at the moment is 4 inch, which doesnt fit a lot of the air pods available. i was thinking of getting the stainless steel/metal one made coming out to three inches, will this affect performance?

if the overall volume of the intake pipe is greater and if it offers a smoother air-flow (e.g. better bends and smoother inside) then it should offer a small performance gain, but you might not notice it.

Well... What would we all say in situations like this...
" The bigger the better "
If your are willing to get a custom air intake pipe, then you shouldn't really go down to 3", you may aswell leave it 4", and find a suitable air filter.
I think if your new shiny pipe is smooth on the inside and doesn't have hard narrow bends like the stock one, you will ofcourse feel some more power & noise with the down size to 3" Because the bend near the battery on the stock intake is quite small.
Hower there is another option, is making a 4" pipe and getting an adapter to go from 4" to 3" for your filter, this will allow for future improvements.
It also greatly depends on how your air filter is setup, if it's in the open it will take in more hot air, or of it doesn't have an intake snorkel feeding it air, and so on.
Man, what's going on, my answer is longer then Ruchi's!!!
Please note, it's not how big it is, it's how you use it folks
