Hey guys,
I have been hunting for a fto gpvr for a while now but have struggled to fi d one at all let alone in Vic. One has popped up in NSW and was wondering g if a fto forum gentleman would be able to check it out for me? I will obviously give some reimbursement for the time they spend. (Hand jobs for all) lol
Just want it to be a good car before I go forward with anything.

Any help appreciated.

It is this one. It looks like it needs a massive clean though.

Has anyone see it before?

I reckon that would be a good purchase, Sahin posted it up recently.

Meanwhile, if you do buy it, I'd like the wheel center caps for our rims... which are the same.

Sorry to say, had you posted up earlier about this I could have viewed it for you, it's literally 5 mins from where I work.
If you can call the guy and ask if it's ok that someone view it on your behalf then I could inspect come Monday after 5:30.

Thanks i will call him tomorrow and see if how it goes. I really appreciate the help. Just don't want to buy a lemon. The no rego is a bit sh*t though as you cannot drive it and tell me if it goes normal.

I will keep you posted.

Thanks Heaps

Yeah, not being able to drive, does limit the overall inspection.
Best I can do is turn it over and take it through the gears on the spot to make sure it all engages.
(IF it has a running battery)

Can have a look if you like. Will take me a week or so to sort out the inspection. Is that OK?

No worries i will call him first and then see if i will go from there.

What did you mean by inspection? Did you want to take it to get a full hoist inspection by a mechanic? SOrry was not sure what you meant.

I have used a mechanic in Carlton who was absolutely amazing to deal with and was very very straight up and thorough with the inspection but getting it there without rego is the issue. He mostly specializes in Euro cars but sure he would be able to give it a good inspection.

I will let you know if it's worth chasing or not. My advice would be to get an IVI inspection (http://www.ivi.net.au/)

But don't get an IVI inspection done because it may be a waste of money and time. I'll let you know if it's worth getting it looked at by them or not. I wouldn't recommend buying it sight unseen on my word, because there could be things I miss or dont notice, or simply dont know about. The IVI inspection will also get around your no rego problem because they can go out to the vehicle instead of bringing it to them.

Also, if and when you do buy it, you can organize a temporary registration to drive it down to vic and register it there. I would also try and get local rwc. Even though nsw rwc isn't valid in vic, it will still give you an idea about its rwc condition and costs you are looking at.

Temporary rego - yes. But RWC will make no difference. IVI gives you a full comprehensive report of everything.

for a permit in nsw you'd need a safety cert anyway. so...

Happy to drive it down if you cover fuel and flight back. lol

or someone follows and we road trip.

Cool thanks for the info. I am aware of the unregistered permit and the main issue it i would not have any insurance while driving it down. They will not give insurance unless it has rego. I was about to buy a Renualt clio sport a few months back from Artarmon and the rego ran out. And had these issues also with permits and what not, not sure if the NSW permit will be able to be used as soon as i cross the boarder and might have to get a vic one which will have to be done before hand. The Mechanic in Carlton was amazing and went over the whole car like a maniac and was so straight up it was not funny.

That is the mechanic. Highly recommend him. He does specialize in Euro cars though.

Sight unseen is always fun i bought my old car and it was utterly a lemon. I checked it out but it was so battered mechanically past the point of me realizing. It was full original and i mean everything was original including the 18 year old timing belt. It had full engine rebuild that was not the case at all with full reciepts. So i don't really go on rubbish receipts anymore unless i can get it verified by another party. So want to make sure this is not that case and make sure it is good and has been looked after, so i will wait for something i like to pop up which is hard when you want to drive something a bit sportier than a barina.

Daniel yes please check it out for me and tell if it is worth going further with i would really appreciate it.

Astron, that is a very nice offer. If all goes well i might have to take you up on that unless my gf wants to go on a road trip to get it.

Another issue is that he will have to sign the Vic transfer papers and i will have to sigh the NSW papers. My brother lives in sydney so that should be okay i guess

Unless someone in nsw buys it, then you buy it off them, so to speak...

Wait what? Where are you located? I'm sure if you contact the RTA (or 'RMS') then they could sort it out.
