A/T valve body, filter

Hi, I am sure many peeps have changed the normal cylinder A/T filter at the top of the A/T case.
There is a A/T valve body at the buttom of the A/T box, it has an oil filter as well, MD758691, has anyone actually changed it before?
Is it necessary?
