Been wanting to do this for a while, and now that they are off the car and can be taken to someone im interested to see if anyone is keen on getting some fender braces if i got a few sets fabbed up.
The ones i have are original J-speed fender braces, which can be landed from Japan for about $250 each. Im hoping to be able to get sets made up for about 100, if not less.
They bolt straight up to an FTO, and can be done by anyone they are that simple. They mount to the lower door hinge bolts and a pre-existing hole just under the fender (as pictured)
I cannot say on the improvement people can expect as im the only FTO that i know of with them. however if it counts for anything my GPR handled like a dream. (coupled with thicker sway bars/coilovers/strut braces etc)

@ the people who would know this kind of thing (dwayne/bennoz etc) what would it be like to reproduce these? Would 100 for a set be realistic if enough got in on it? What kind of place would i take it to to have multiple sets fabbed up the cheapest?

Lastly, if this did pick up and sets could be made for a reasonable price, who would be interested?

price for that would be very good but and any engineering shop should be able to replicate price will depend on materials used as should be a simple enough design to replicate.

But in all fairness more bracing on the front will provoke more understeer esp when coupled with upper and lower braces, for more nuetral handling look at thicker rear swaybar and upper/lower bracing to try and create some over steer. But guess it all depends on how people drive and wish there car to behave.....

Wouldnt that be ideal then? FWD's tend to oversteer, so balancing it out with something like fender braces will even it out a bit? They certainly wont change it from oversteer to understeer by themselves ?

Na fwd tend to understerr stiffer front end will provoke it more.

Understeer = front wants to keep going straight into corner

Oversteer = rear wants to flick out

Taz obviously didn't see the latest episode of Top Gear where Jeremy goes on about the Toyota 86/Suburu BRZ

yep, fwd understeers and rwd oversteers.

This isn't the one I was referring too but still explains it... sort of...

i know what understeer and oversteer is, i just mixed up fwd and rwd
EITHER WAY i had them, and my car handled perfectly
can we get back on track and see if anyone is interested?
or should i just bolt the last one up to maverick (as once theyre bolted up theyre bloody hard to get get back out

Well as said originally depends on costing and what people want I guess

Yeah I'm down depending on the cost. With the chassis at 327k km anything that stiffens would help.

Im not sure if there will be a minimum to be made up, it will probably affect the price but i will try and get some made up even if it is only for 1-2 people.
