Putting coilovers in. Cant get the fucker to get off. Any tricks I am unaware of or is it straight pull off. Iv tried wedging a screwdriver in to loosen the clip and also hitting it with a hammer (not sure what the hammer would have done but it felt right at the time)

mini pry bar or just tap it off with screw driver and hammer, should not be that tight i use pliers most of time, try to deegrease and wd40 first

Nvm. used the back of a hammer to jimmy it off.

Me and a mate spent 20 mins trying to get it off. After i posted this, went back and got it off within 1 min.

yea just gotta know how to get em off.
Usually some WD40, and a pair of pliers works a treat, otherwise flathead and hammer on the little ridge at the end will tap it off

Got the teins on. But the droplink doesnt reach up to its hole. The f**k?

Droplink isnt important right? I can just leave it unattached?

I know it's a stupid question, but are you sure they're in the right way around? There's normally a left and right strut for the front of vehicles, with things like the drop-link and brake line attachments on either side to suit. Otherwise you may have to get extended drop-links.


No drop-link means no swaybar. No swaybar means

Yeah, wasnt serious about leaving them off. Do i just need to buy longer links? Or do i need to unattach the opposite side first?

We have a trolley jack under the rotor. We started jacking it up to compress the spring, (Which i think is the same as what you are suggesting) but it just makes the hole move upwards, away from the link. I would imagine it would be near impossible to attach the link with the wheel back on and back on the ground. I could try really pulling the link up into the hole, (might need to get the trolley jack to push it up, but im afraid its just going to snap the sway bar. I have compared the original strut to the twins and the whole thing is smaller. Pic incoming.

Also I haven't ever really seen lowered height droplinks for the front, only rears.

Need someone to measure their droplinks.

They came as a spare set to a mates fto he bought. The original owner said he took them off cause they were too hard when driving. We just measured the droplinks he has on now with his BC coilovers and they are the same length as mine.

Have u got both links off at the moment?

See the pic a few posts back. thats where we are at. The link on the passenger side is still attached to the stock strut.

Put the other coilover in and then see how you go.
