Just wondering if anyone has had theirs taken out ? If so is it easy to find someone to do it and how much etc..

Just looking at this for Dyno tuning purposes and thinking of getting a turbo.

Simple Rev-Speed Meter would do the trick, and they aren't that expensive too.

Speaking of speed limiters, can somebody quickly tell me what is the speed limit on a GPX that has not been delimited (all things being equal...rim/tyre size, wind velocity, friction of bitumen etc)?

I always thought it was 180km/hr but...

It should be 180kmh, but as speedos are not 100% accurate the figure on the speedo maybe slightly out. i.e. The speedo may show 185-190.

Are you referring to the inaccuracy of the needle on the speedometer, or is there some error correction in the sensor sending the signal reading?

needle on the speedo.

mines not speed limited but i've only got it to 191kph on the track...

there's no way i'd ever try to reach this speed on a public road, and nor should anyone else for that matter

Many people have clocked their FTO but this was always under controlled conditions and closed roads. On the open road we are all law abiding citizens.

The FTO Club does not endorse speeding on open roads, anyone who chooses to do this - does so at their own risk (and dont forget about the risk to others).

We are starting to regularly hold track events - this allows members to legally take their cars to whatever speed they desire on a proper race track under controlled circumstances

Some things you need to consider if you choose to do such excessive speeds on public roads are:-
1- Danger to yourself
2- Danger to others
3- Speeding Tickets/ Licence Disqualification
4- Jail time for some speeds
5- DEATH - either yourself or others - if you hit a wall at 180 km/h - I dont rate much your chances of being anything other than red jelly - and if you happened to kill someone else - you would have to live with that for the rest of your life.

By admitting to such speeds on a PUBLIC forum - (it is possible that the police could read this stuff) even though you might have given a false name - your computer has a unique IP Address - not very hard if they really wanted to track down who you were and "keep an eye out for you"....

There's no need to be a smartarse, especially when people are just trying to help you avoid trouble.

From a slightly different perspective however, this club is a legal body so don't do things which could get the club in trouble and don't do things that will attract the police to these forums otherwise you'll piss all the members off.

If you're going to brag about your speeding on this PUBLIC forum, at least bullshit about where it was and don't say it was a public road (i.e. private road, racetrack, or if you're creative, maybe something like overseas).

ruchi and tanyas concern is genuine the public liability exposure of the club is substantial when it comes to breaking the law...

your correction and clarification is seriously appreciated...

the club expects all members to follow the rules of the road and common sense...

apart from that have fun and back on topic.

I will say, I did some ridiclous speeds on "private roads", with my old car Mazda MX6, and well, coming down a bit of a hill, it tottaly lost control. There was another car, I could see in the distance, and the car was fishtailing everywhere... I tried to stay on the road, for as long as I could, but, ther oncoming car, was approaching, so I swerved for the side of the road, and flipped my car, into some tree's. It was the most stupidist thing, I've ever did, the car was completely totalted, thankfully, that was the only thing to get hurt. The other car, pulled over, to see if I was ok, and apart from a stack of scratches and blood from the windscreen shattering on me, I was fine. I have 2 small tiny scars, now about 1 and 2 cm's long, on my cheek to remind me, how lucky I was.

With that said, i went tru a few tough stages in my life... but i'm over it now, and sure, i've speed every now and then, but nothing as stupid as that. The speed limiter, is fine, and really no one should think about touching it, unless it's designed purely for track use, in a controlled enviroment.

in case on whoever want to try it, you would need a long road to reach up to 180+ believe me, private road is no where near enough, waste of petrol that's all i'm gonna say last time i tried that

In the u.k.we fit delimiter chip's,but they also convert from KPH to MPH,but i would have thought u could get one just to remove the limiter.not that i want to encourage speeding

one valid reason to delimit it, is so that you can dynotest the car without worrying about hitting speed limiter. ive never seen my true peak because of this (in 3rd)
