Guess that sound.

Okay, as some of you know this car has had a noise for some years.

I have near everything replaced front end, and it's still there.

Thinking back, perhaps I had one dodgy mechanic who I'll be going back to as I don't know what he charged me for... perhaps.

Have a listen, sorry it's not the best video, and post your thoughts.

EDIT: Have replaced
rotors
brake pads
cv joint
entire drive shaft
wheels
tyres

It's not the backing plate, it's not the tyre rubbing on the strut.

Also, the wheel does NOT feel loose, I cannot jiggle it with the wheel lifted.

To me it sounds like something isnt rotating as freely as it should be or is skimming across something as it turns (Captain obvious). Is the sound coming from the outside near the wheel or further in towards the middle of the car?

Mine was making the same noise. The backing plate behind the disc was just catching. Bent it back a bit and viola! No more noise.

Not in this situation.
But thanks for the thought.

No idea, don't have the back to check it out either.
Assumed the tax payer position just to get the wheel off the ground and that almost killed me.

EDIT: added a list also, to advise where I've gone with it.

I have an idea is the rotor rubbing on the caliper was happening to mine in the rear once thats what it sound like to me check top and bottom of caliper and look at the rotor is there any really shiny groves marked in it

Thats what I wouldve said, but if the brake setup has been replaced and it was making the sound both before and after then unless it has been installed or adjusted wrong then that probably isn't it.

Having said that though, that is what it sounds like to me.

Dan, are you able to take off the caliper and brake pad and spin it/have someone else take it off?

Yeah, I also thought the same thing, nothing visible in sight, so gave that idea the flick.
And yeah, you're correct Dan, sound was there before and after the change over, previous rotors I still have, and no visible wear marks out of the ordinary.

Will hopefully get the wheel off, caliper and all this week and have a thorough inspection.
Suffice to say the other wheel does not make a noise like this.

The only real logical thing that hasnt been replaced is the caliper itself. If all else fails - borrow someone elses for a day and throw it on/check if its still there?

Hmm. If its not pads, rotors, driveshafts/CV joints, wheels or tyres, what else is left that rotates/moves with the wheel? Process of elimination.. I guess?

Wheel bearing, the hub could be scraping on something/loose? Im guessing you have replaced the boots/or there is no splits or holes in them?

Certainly is odd. new halfcut from japan?

Hmmmmmmmmmm, something I haven't given thought to, however the car simply developed this sound one day and it's simply become louder in time.
When driving it sounds electronic almost.

It truly did.
I believed it more so with the appology and using the word 'breh'.
