I think my alternator needs to be replaced as the battery keeps dieing, jump starting the car doesn't work, as soon as you remove the cables the car dies again so i've purchased a new battery so i can drive the car to the Mechanics and i've started it up, rolled down the windows and now they won't go back up again. The stereo also won't turn on and the motors for the side mirrors no longer work. All fuses are fine so would i be right to think the ECU is blown? or is it going to be something i haven't thought of?

I just checked them and there fine. But to be sure i replaced every fuse under the bonnet and the dash. I also did every fuseable link with the exception of the 80 and the 60. I even switched the relays but with no luck.

No once u get to a certain point of voltage in the battery, nothing will work at all.

When you started the car what did the volt meter on the dash say
it should have read 13.8 volts or there abouts.
If it didn't read around there then the alternator is highly suspect (IMO)

I would put the new battery on charge overnight.
refit it in the morning put the ignition on
check the voltage
put the windows up
start the car and check the voltage again.
if it doesn't read close to 14 volts then, Put the head lights on for a second and see if it goes up to around 14 volts agian.
if it doesn't, either the alternator, the regulator or both have gone.
