I'm pretty sure they were manufactured in Japan for the American market only.

Just Asked Mitsubishi.

My contact confirmed Steve’s thought that the Eclipse was an Export to the LHD markets.

Chances of finding a RHD eclipse 0  ! ! !

Yeah unfortunately the only way to import one is to get it changed to RHD which would end up costin way too much, which is a bummer cause id love to have one

Look all you have to do is either move to Jap or US & you get all the car you want at much cheaper price.

From memory they got engine line up similar to FTO, but they do comes in 4WD turbo at one stage as well.

I think the line up as follow, i don't remember which is which year, so don't quote me on it. They were availible since 91-Current.

1.8L straight 4 FWD

2.0L straight 4 FWD

2.0L straight 4 turbo 4WD

2.4L Straight 4 FWD

3.0L V6 FWD

All i remember is the current version which run 3.0L V6 FWD have the same output as the FTO GPX.

There is one major problem with the Eclipse LHD to RHD conversion. The shape of the fire wall was designed only to accomodate LHD. If one was to try for a RHD conversion then you would require linkages to be made and would end up costing a hell of a lot. Therefore compliance is non existant

In the ACT and I believe other states and territories (Except WA) the vehicle must be 30 years old to have LHD registration. I have investigated all the options on trying to bring one in.

The only real option is to live over in the US or Japan for 12 months, bring in under personal import, and live in WA, you can then own an Eclipse, not requiring Conversion or Compliance.
