Source of ticking sound.

After some I help I got to the source of the ticking. However the hot fixes suggested just aren't working.

I removed the box circled in red and made sure it was the source of the sound.

When I opened it up and made my best effort to move the broken tooth away from contact and tested it the sound was still there.

I then decided, just for the sake of trouble shooting, would try to get the 'missing' tooth in contact with the other gear halfway through the motion, well before the sound is heard. To my surprise it seems the missing tooth has nothing to do with the noise.

Instead, when the "corner gear" highlighted in green hits the edge of the box (the line in red) the motor is still trying to move in the same direction and obviously met with resistance due to the corner gear being stuck on the edge of the box.
The gears then crunch along making the ticking sound.

Am I missing something here? Is the current meant to alternate and then move everything in the opposite direction once it gets to a certain point? or what exactly is happening?

Also what exactly is this box for?

Help appreciated, thanks guys! Sorry for another thread, I felt like this issue may stem on and become its own thing.

I am not sure if the problem is with the unit itself, and if it is possible to fix it I would rather that. Do you sell interior parts though?

What do you mean by interior parts?. I have a shed full of spares, so good chance I have what you are after.

You could try to put it back together, install it back into place, take a video of it in operation and post video up so we can try to see what might be happening.

It is the motor/gearbox that controls the fresh air/recirculate door in your AC system.
So push the fresh air/recirculate button on your climate control and video it working (opening and closing).
