Review of RPW extractor on Tip GPX

After few members PM me, I promise them that i will post a review on the RPW extractor once i got my car back from the first stage.

So here it is people

1. Notice more noise from exhaust & under bonnet, under normal driving speed 60-100km, but thats expected. Although it’s nosier i'm sure it will still pass EPA test, due to i got the extractor heat wraped & with a silencer at the exhaust tip.

2. Most Tip people will experience that when you slow down your car, the gear remained in 3rd, & you don't get much "kick in" or "pull" when u try to floor it.

But after the extractor installed, it actually "pull" & even went to the mivec range without manually change the gear. I think this was contributed by longer length extractor, almost double the length of the factory one, which in theory it should give you more torque in mid to high range.

I can aasure you that the different isn't just feel, as I killed a VT series II supercharged "commondoor" by 2-3 cars length from the light, which previously i can just manage to stay in front by 1/2 to 1 car length.

Do you think it was a good bang for your buck?

Thax to Rove (HRD2BQT), i only pay $350, & its still brand new.

So in my case its bang for my bucks. :D

I won't know how many KW it gives until i dyno it next wk. So stay tune.

we don't know as RPW refuse to publish dyno results of their mods!

ALL UAS mods (which are power gains) are dyno tested before and after with as short a time between the two runs as possible to ensure that all atmospheric changes are minimal between the two tests.

The UAS mod isn't extractors, it leaves the existing extractors in place. It's the piping back from the extractors.

Yeah me too, & Will & Maddy convinced me at the other post, plus i got a bargain price.

Well requarding to the extractor, as i said before the quality its a bit rough. & i will post some figures as soon as i dyno it.

Do you have a dyno result of before the extractors were installed?

Can the UAS Exhaust mod be fitted to the RPW extractors?

No, cause the RPW extractor sit much lower then standard extractors, so it won't work.

Nope, which i should of, but i didn't have time, but the standard KW at the wheel for FTO its around 92-98.

yeah so your figure afterwards is just going to be a figure not an actual gain or anything like that... we've seen 4spd tips pull from 89-95kw as standard without having a before figure you can't actually tell what (if anything) was gained.

Kev, I thought you had dynoed your car when you got it chipped.

not to highjack the thread or anything  but while your on the subject of see'ing if extractors give you any gain... is there anywhere in melb. that you guys can recommend so i can have my car dyno'd, have extractors installed, and dyno'd again? all at the same place.

Also how much would the dyno'ing cost?

Cheers

I took some crap mods out & put some new one since then, so that figures isn't accurate either. So thats why i took the chip out even since, well until tomorrow.

I know you don't like the RPW products, & i do agree with you that their quality are very rough but i'm not here to compare the figures, the whole idea was to tell other members what i think of the extractor.

I guess the only way to find out, its 2 drag another Tip FTO heheeheh

make sure when u line up with one, its a tip with the UAS pipe fitted for a much better comparison

kev, how "rough" is rough???
did u get the street design, or the race design?

The one i got from Rove is street spec, when i call up RPW, they told me Race spec is a one off.

Hmmm i should of took some pic of the extractor, but didn't have time. When i said rough, its the finishing of the internal piping, all the wielding are uneven. It looks like someone just did a quick job & don't care the outcome. If i was to paid the full price, i would expect a much better finish.
