HELLLLOOOOO FTOAUSTRALIA :D

first impression... holy sh*t.. no one has been a smart ass jerk yet :D *waits for smart ass jerk -.-

anyways!

my name is alex, i live in newcastle, and i just picked up an FTO GPX with a version R bodykit.< or at least thats what i think it is!

Im actually a typical Honda Fan Boy...  My daily up until recently was a EG honda civic with a 150KWATW B series Frank engine (CRV bottom end JDM Type R Head.. ) running mid 13 sec passes on sh*tty street tyres :D

My pride and joy is currently in the panel beaters getting a ful bare metal :)

she is a JDM (genuine) Type R 96 Spec Integra, fitted with a jackson Racing Supercharger kit making shy of 200FWKW also ran a mid 13.. this however was my first time out ever on sh*tty street tyres.. would be good for mid 12's with a bit more practice and my slicks on.

but life isnt about going in a straight line fast :) twisties and mountain passses is where its at :D

ANYWAY! back to the point of why i jumped on your forums!

the civic was my daily until i realised... i wanted something different.. so off went the civic.. and that same night i was driving home an FTO, it all happened so quick.. i didnt even have time to tell the missus the civic was gone!!

first impressions of the car..

well at the moment it has no power steering, but you can feel how nimble the car is, i thin the sway bar setting on the car have been very well balanced, Tein coilovers that are in it help im sure of it. but the car feels VERY direct

performance: coming from a set of VERY high revving peaky engines, its certainly a change, but the torque is there, and im sure there is some fun to be had.

it's a bit funny actually, even when im starting to rev it, i get it to about 5k, and im like wow, theres still a few k worth of RPM i can use, so the torque is definately a change!

the looks: very sleek front end, streamline, very a head of its time i believe, some people are very biased and cant accept different, mehh.. the more i drive the car the more it grows on me!

i think the interior is stunning, even for a car of its age i think its MINT! the car needs a little bit of TLC, and thats exactly what ill give it... im a bit of an enthusiast no matter what the car is.. so good things are coming :)

the things the car needs!

HID Factory Bulbs

Power steering pump

A/C pump

Cold Start valve

1 Tein Replaced

D/S front Engine mount

all i can think of at the present!

overall, being brutally honest, the looks of the car are not for everyone, i was not always a fan! but like i said! the more i get in this mini supercar, the more it grows on me! i think when they dubbed this car the best handling FWD of its year, i think they were on the money, i think the engine could use more power its got the torque but just lacking something.. if that makes any sence, but all round i think the performance is great!

im sure with a bit of time money and overnight parts from japan... :D i think this car would be an absolute weapon!

Hope you guys enjoyed my introduction, soon enough, the mod bug will bite for my FTO, first ive gotta fix up a few things. but after that, we will begin!

i will post pictures up asap guys :D

WTTC again.

Good to see another Newcastle member.

There's no Version R body kit, the only body difference between a Version R and a GPX is the spoiler (which was a factory option on the GPX). I'm guessing your GPX is a facelift (97+) by the sounds of it.
(Version R's came out in 97 so they all have the facelift bumper.)

We should really get a Newcastle meet going now that there's a few members that live nearby.

Well first thing WTTC :D .
2nd its good to have a honda driver move to the fto and put up a review like that :thumright: .
Yes the car would have been great with more power but you can pull more out of them, strait line yep not the fastest car around but they are not set up for that. The fun of these cars are in the turns, they are light and sharp.

When you get the car back up to how it should be you will love it even more!

And I agree we need to have a Newcastle meet up, maybe a BBQ or something like that.

Nah, we're pretty laid back here generally (waits for the smart arse jerk to appear.....).

Welcome to the club BTW. Will be very interested to get your impressions on the differences between the FTO and the Integra when you get them both up to spec. Do you know which model FTO you have yet? These links may help if you dont:

and

Oh and keep the first weekend in April next year free. Interstate meet at my place every year for a bonfire.

well its a well known fact that the FTO is still to date one of the best handling FWD cars ever built, direct competitor to they type R... its kinda good to have the best of the best in that reguard....

me and the missus are looking at buying an S2000 in the very near future, and then eventually ill move onto an evo 6.5 or an evo 8... not to keen on any of the other shapes...

super keen to get this car up to scratch and see what it actually feels like with Power steering... feels stoopid heavy atm lol..

Facelift models are '97 onwards mate, if its stock then it's pre-facelift.
