Wheel Spacers/Hub Rings..??

Hey people, just looking for some advice on this issue I have. After taking off my after-market 18" wheels and putting the factory 16" wheels back on, I'm driving down the road and the back wheels are rattling away like the wheel nuts are not even on. After a closer inspection, I can see that the inside of the wheel is not sitting hard up against the ring around the inside of the 5 bolts (see pic). I've made sure I put the wheel on straight and all nuts are on as far as they'll go but there's still a bit of a gap. I'm thinking a spacer or hub ring is what's needed. I checked the inside of the wheel to see if there was a ring in there but nothing.
Off to Mr Mag tomorrow morning to see what he can do as my mate reckons there's buckets of rings there in their workshop.
Just wondering if anyone has any advice or suggestions on what I need to do to rectify this as I have my pit inspection on Tuesday morning.

Looks like the hub centric ring is still on there buddy!
WD40, flat head screw driver, and pry off the aluminum colored ring.
Edit: just in-case you try to pop the cap off instead...

WTF? Are you sure the nuts you are using are going all the way in? If the nuts are tight they will never rattle loose.

I dare say the wheel was not on properly due to the hub centric ring.
Combine that with motion and yes the nuts will unwind.
Remove the ring and problem solved.
FYI, factory rims dont need rings, only A/M with larger center hub bore require the rings.

i agree! (with someone for once)with astron
having made this same mistake when i was 19, the centric (aluminium coloured) ring should be removed and NOT the 'wet oil' coloured hub cap, should remedy your problem

Haha, oh man, looking at it now it was totally the ring seized onto the hub. Staring me in the face and I still didn't see it. WD40 and a bit of hammering took care of that. Wheels went on perfectly afterwards.
So I took the car over the pits today and it passed just fine. Now I'm putting it up for sale so I'll post some pics up tomorrow if anyone is interested.
Thanks for the help on the wheel issue, people

Hey people, sorry to somewhat break the rules but as I will not be using this site after I sell my car I don't see the point in joining up as a member just to be able to post up in the 'For Sale' section so here's a pic of my car. I know some of you here may be interested in this so I thought I'd offer members the car before I post it up on Carsales.com
It's done 230,000, belts changed recently, 4 factory wheels with 90% tread (on car now) as well as the 4 x 18" wheels seen in this pic. Tint has recently been removed and the front bumper now has a crack and paint damage (which I can have fixed cheaply upon request). $3000. Located in WA.
