Respray Cost

What price are you looking at for a decent respray these days. Looking to change colour, so door sills, inside boot, but not engine bay. Im a bit of a perfectionist, so would need to be a good job. Havent looked into this for a while and dont know the variation between cities/states, but would like to start getting an indication.

All is dependant on quality really - and to be honest you seem very nifty with this kind of thing, i wouldnt be surprised if you could do a phil and spray it yourself, the cost would not only be a lot cheaper than anywhere you go, but you would wind up with all the tools as well at the end of it.

Usually though a good paint job will set you back about 2500-3000 without an engine bay spray, a lot more if the bay is included (so lucky you dont want the bay done)

IMHO, try it yourself.

I think 3K will get you a decent sprayjob.
I've heard good things about smashtech in Sydney and I got quoted $2,000 for a closed door respray assuming the body is good, more if you want door sills, trunk, dints pulled out etc etc.

I've found for a really good job from a reputable company your realistically looking at 3-5k.

When I got quotes, I was looking at 3-5K for a full respray with gloss 2pac, it would have been an extra 1K for turret replacement.
I looked at custom colours from house of kolor, it would have been 6-10k just for the supply of paint
When you find a preferd sprayer, just look at some of his completed jobs ;)

$699, I would assume for like a basic colour. I know this seems very cheap, and it is, however it is at the very least worth a little bit of research. Its in Melbourne I believe, so may be a little inconvenient.. could be worth it though.

I know everyone is going to flame me and say "must be a crap job!" or "seems sketchy" etc etc. and I know that it seems too good to be true. HOWEVER, it is definitely worth making some enquiries and doing a little bit of research.. you never know.

At the very least its worth a look!

You would have to be a little worried when the company states this top center of their home page.......
"For the first few nights after painting we recommend that you keep your car in a garage or covered area"
But they may be good

I remember, when I was 18, there was a company like this openned in Auburn, Sydney. They didn't stay in business for long and people were trying to sue them for the paint pealing off before 1 year was up.
I believe they were just washing the cars and painting straight over the original duco

I agree. Regardless, it might still be worth asking them some questions.

Would guess that $699 would be a basic colour, of a small car, without inside doors, engine bay etc etc. Or that may just be labour and supply your own paint. Who knows! or it could just be a sh*t paint job

Isn't the $699 price only for the basic respray? Apparently you'll have to do all the prep work and it's only a basic outside respray. If you want them to do all the work the price will hit over $1,000, which is still cheaper than most places, but still a dodgy paint job.

Wasn't there someone on here recently that had a respray done by that company?

OK, so from what im hearing $2500 odd is average for a decent job. Good to know! Time to start putting it aside.
