I saw that it had been welded like the previous owners mechanic has stated it has been, but then I looked below the bracket and on the cable there was a little pair of vice grips still attached to it. O_o took it out and had a little test drive, still hard as all sh*t to get into gear, am now going to go to my nearest Mitsu dealer to install the new bracket Dstocks has provided me, all this f*ckery :facepalm2:

 Genius

Seriously though, vice grips are almost as good as cable ties.

Few years back one of my fellow competitors broke 3 studs on his turbo manifold at WP. One race to go for the weekend so he did the rounds of the pits and scrounged up a couple of sets of vice grips, rigged them up under the bonnet to hold the turbo manifold together, with some wire rigged up to stop the vice grips moving around. Finished the race came back in and everything was still in place! Worked beautifully! Just lucky the scruits never saw it

My old man lost a pair years ago, I found them only recently holding his busted exhaust up. Covered in road schmutz, but still good!
