Clutch died...

Was driving normally one day and suddenly felt the clutch pedels are feather light, and then it decided to not able to shift in gears right next to a copper car ==. On the way home wasent able to get into first gear, car would vibrate like crazy when stoped and the rmp would go up and down and eventually drops to nothing and stalls.
Had to use like full strength to pop it into gear ==.
Does this sound like a clutch problem? Since my machanic has been warning me for the past year LOL
So far im thinking of getting Exceedy Hd clutch and im just wondering where would the cheapest to get them, also where would be cheapest to get it installed?
I got quoted $450 for hd clutch and around $650 for labour. Thats from Western clutch i think, anyone have places around Sydney to recommened?

Replace, or even make sure you have fluid in the clutch master cylinder first.
Save yourself hundreds before spending big.

Sounds like you're either out of clutch fluid or either the master or slave cylinder has sh*t itself.
My moneys on a shot slave.
Worn out clutch plates don't just suddenly make a pedal soft.
Oh & btw, $1100 to do a clutch is ludicrously expensive.

So how to check master and slave? I dont know much and gonna get ripped off for sure/ ==
Well the cheapest ive found is 500bux labour to change the clutch.
There should be clutch fluid cause i got it changed it about 500kms agos.
Any ideas what I should do? If i just take it to machanics they're probly gonna say burn clutch and charge heaps == need some home diagnostics

This didn't ring any alarm bells in your head?
Check the fluid level in the reservoir, its right next to brake master reservoir.
Then check for leakage on the slave. It'll be covered in fluid if the seal's gone.

Checked the clutch fluid, theres basically nothing left.
Since I changed clutch fluid not long ago, there must be some massive leak somewhere.
Planning to get a bottle of dot 4 brake fluid and fill it and hopefully i can drive it to a machanic.
Just to comfirm it is dot 3 or 4?
Thanks

Dot 4. Sounds like your slave has blown, check it for leaks.

Is your clutch slipping? I wouldn't trust a mechanic in telling you it's on the way out as he could just be trying to make more money off of you.
$700 is a decent price for clutch + labour. I have seen people get quoted up to $1500.

Have you fixed the slave yet?
Your clutch is probably fine....
If you replace your clutch and leave the slave, you're going to have the same problem...
1 thing at a time.
Kinda like the guy I bought the NX off.
Sold it as apparently overheating and clutch on the way out.
Meanwhile, a radiator cap and a clutch cable later ($130) and I fixed a supposed $2000 problem that his own mech stated...
