(URGENT) Sound system suddenly decided to not work.

I got my rewiring done and everything cost me like few hundred dollars.
Two days later my sound system decides to not work. There is a red offset light on.
Also moved the wires a little bit and theres like sparks.
It would be really helpful if someone around Burwood can come take a look at it more me.
Got no more money to spend it on another dodgy machnic hence yeah
Thanks

what phi said most likely a grounding issue or power issue If you know how to mess around with sound systems try finding a new ground theres hundreds of places to ground and maybe who ever did yours didnt use a good ground or it just might not be sitting on the ground properly.

come to think of it, could u be a bit more specific ? like what doesnt work? e.g speakers/sub/headunit?? moving wires and it sparks = ground touching power so if thats happening at the amp, you need to re connect them properly and make sure they dont touch lol

After looking at your car on the weekend, it does need a bit of electrical work done.
The mess in the rear end as mentioned is a bit of a disaster, not to mention the main wire in the engine bay.
I could neaten it up for you, the problem is I'm currently busy ensuring our FTO will make the drive to Dwaynes, so this weekend is out for me.
The weekend after may be ok, but that's pretty much 2 weeks, and the last weekend before bonfire.
I'll keep an eye on this thread, if I get some time I'll contact you.

Red light normally means grounding issue or it is 'sparking out',
Check all your wires are properly attached, insulated, etc.

Yeah wires are everywhere, i paid someone to do it because i have no idea LOL
But there is no sound at all.
The guy lives way too far, and he was like try reconnect the red wire... but theres like 3 red wires ==
the wires are like everywhere and i doubt its properly insulated LOL
But most likely I probly need to pay someone that actually knows what they're doing to fix up everything LOL
As far as i know the black and the red wire are right next to each other, and that causes the sparks.
Other than that, i have no idea whats happening with my system ==
Thanks heaps (:

Black is likely ground, red likely power.
Don't have them touching!
Check the fuse on the amp, and there is sparks, try and tape in between them so there aren't anymore.
Then turn the car off and back on and see if that improves it? - sounds to me like its just dodgey wiring and it's shorting itself out and leaving you with the safety light on.

Theres a few things it could not be working.
1. Power not getting to amp
There should be a thick red wire (if they used red for the power wire) running from your battery, through a fuse (if they put one in) and into the boot, connected into the + terminal on your amplifier. make sure this wire is connected properly and insulated, so the exposed wires don't touch anything except the + terminal on the amp.
2. Not grounding out the amp properly
There should be a black wire (assuming they used black) connected to the negative terminal on your amp (could be a (-) symbol) which should then be (grounded out) connected to a bolt of some sort in the boot area. Now make sure this is a good size bolt and make sure it's connected to the main body of the car.
3. Your remote wire isn't connected (tells your amp to turn on)
This can be done a few ways.
3. (a)
There will be a small wire (usually 16 gauge and can be any number of colours) connected from your headunits remote wire (usually a blue wire that's not connected to anything) running all the way to the boot, into the remote terminal on your amp.
3. (b)
There will be a 2 pronged switch on your dash, with one prong connected to a constant power source (battery) or connected to an accessories wire (when you turn the key 1 click) like your cigarette lighters positive wire.
The other prong should have a wire connected to it and this wire runs all the way to your boot where your amp is. This wire should be connected to the remote terminal on your amp.
4. Speaker wire not connected properly
There should be 2 wires (could be any colour) one connected to one side of the speaker terminals on the amp (usually a + symbol but can be a L (for left)) and the other connected to the other side of the speaker terminal on the amp. (usually a - symbol but can be a R (for right)) these then get connected to the speaker or sub box terminals. (one on each of the prongs on the speaker or terminals on sub box)
5. Your power wire fuse is blown (if you have one)
Check this first. (yeah I don't know why the f**k I wrote this 5th but anyway)
This fuse will be close to your battery and connected to your power wire in some sort of way. Check to see if it's intact
6. Your amps fuses have blown (assuming they have them)
Should be a fuse or a number of fuses somewhere on your amp
Check to see if these are all intact
7. Your wiring is corroded or broken
Check to see if all your wiring is intact and in good condition, if not it could be grounding out somewhere (touching some metal on your car)
8. Your amp is fucked
No explanation
9. Your speakers are fucked
No explanation but you will know if they are fucked
10. Should be all working now assuming your headunit is working
Now give me $50 for writing all the on my phone

What next for humanity?
