Okay, let's take this nice and slowly...
1. Bulb types will be listed in the Owners Manual. If they're not, get hold of a Service manual (if you haven't already).
2. Ballast Locations: Completely up to you...
3. 4300K is what most euro cars run (as is the factory HID's from memory, Astron_Boy can confirm). Colour temp isn't the only thing to watch for, you need to know the wattage as well. 35W or 55W? 55W is brighter, but IMO unnecessary. I've got 35W 6000K's in the triton, and they're blinding enough as it is. Go a 3000K for the foggies, nice and yellow. 4300K-5000K for the headlights, and the same for high-beams. 6000K is getting more to the blue side of white, where you start to lose output.

Or go 8000ks on your headlights for more white/blue (and awesomeness) - albeit you may lose some effectiveness...

also headlights are hb4.
And get the slimline ballasts, way easier to deal with and in my experience more reliable.
EDIT: oh and don't bother with getting HID highbeams, HIDs take longer that standard globes to 'warm up' and you aren't meant to flick them on and off quickly. - just leave these stock or get different aftermarket globes if you want more oomph.

No to HID high beams
No to HID driving lights, they're not foggies.
HB4 sized globe if you have non HID factory headlight units, this is covered in the 'globe' thread.
How long you been on this forum Lawslow?

Hb4!

Not that unusual a size, Repco stocks them....

Low beam = HB4
High Beam = HB3
Fog lights = H3
Whiter the light better the effect but blueish does look cool.
Wouldnt overly recommend high beam for HID as they can take a sec or so to warm up thus leaving you with NO lights if on a pitch black road switching between beams

Ooorrrrrrr, he could not spend his money at all so he won't be broke for when his FTO breaks.
He keeps saying it, and I think he needs to be constantly reminded.
Don't break the fkn car this time!

I was pretty sure they're foggies, as my understanding is that fog lights are below standard headlights, while driving lights are in-line or above the high-beams. Happy to be proven wrong.

Yeah, this has been up for discussion a few times, and in the end I think they are driving lights.
The foggies were an option light as I believe Dwayne showed in the FTO buyers guide.
Foggies typically yellow, or yellow globes, FTO has neither, and the globe type was incorrect? wattage I think...
What the RVR had was definitely foggies, and you could get driving lights as an option.
The FTO had the reverese.

Fair enough. It's just confusing when they use the same symbol on the same switch, yet refer to it as two different types of lights. When someone says "Driving Lights" to me, I think of the ones bolted to my nudging bar

I think that's the common consense, hence why the term Foggies has stuck more so.
Meanwhile, the 'foggies' in the merc are simply 55W high beams with a horizontal disperser across the lens, I ended up putting in yellow globes to make them purposeful.

I went 6k kelvin a few months ago, and it's blue enough to be very noticeable. Think I will go 5k next time.

My foggies switch in my last fto somehow has been swapped for parker/driving lights.
5k color temp is pure solid white which is the best looking imho.
but be aware that different brand/manufacturer will have different color rating. Some are slightly off the chart. (eg. 5k still with some yellow tint in white.)
Remember to change the parker/driving lights to white led type as well.
Size t10 it is.

The fog light switch is a multi switch so it controlled your parkers and one circuit and fog on another. Due to no relay being present on the fog circuit it melts that part of the switch! That means parkers only!
