im sure theres a thread on here somewhere, but i cant seem to find it,
my clutch was fine friday, but saturday morning, its stuffed, gearbox still runs through as normal, but when the engine is running the clutch wont engage to let it into gear,
now ive been told the clutch fucked, and also its just hydraulics, so im trying to work out just which one it is, but im kinda stuck on how to test the hydraulics,
any help would be good,
cheers guys

What does the pedal feel like?

Is it just one gear or a few? Or all of them?

all gears,, and the clutch feels really really sloppy, feels like if i could push it through the floor another 3 or 4 inches it might work

Sounds like hydraulics then. Any visible leaks from the slave cylinder?

forgive me, but, slave cylinder, is that the one basically mounted to the gearbox with the rail going in the the arm coming out into the gearbox,

havnt had much work with clutches yet

i thought so, haha

yeah i had a look, apart from the normal road grime and crap there doesnt appear to be any leaks and theres no oil around,

and pushing that arm into the slave cylinder you can hear liquid moving inside it, so theres oil in there

Ok, so what you might try (before I start recommending that you go out & buy a bunch of parts lol) is try & do a full fluid flush through it.

I.e. top up the master & do a big bleed on the system. The fluid you've got in there may have gone off (absorbed water.)

If that doesn't work, then you're probably gonna need a new master or slave. When one of them goes, I usually replace the other. They're the same as a CE Lancer & only about $110 for the both.
