Fuel Economy

I'm trying to work out what peoples average/specific fuel consumption is on a full tank on their FTO (mivec/non mivec) ..
for that matter, exactly what capacity is an FTO fuel tank? 52 litres? 60 Litres?
what sort of mileage do you get on a full tank - AND what style of driving do you drive with that tank, ie, freeway/city, flooring it all the time, gentle driving, manual/tiptronic..
As a prospective FTO buyer, it will be my daily driver, and with the price of petrol, i'd be really curious to know.

60 litre fuel tank
depending on how you drive and when you drive anywhere from 400-600km per tank. lots of peak hour traffic will effect fuel economy obviously.

gotcha!
would that be consistant across the range of FTO's (ie, early to late models?)
With 'normal' driving a mivec and non mivec FTO result in pretty much identicle economy? (ie not redlining all the time/ driving like your grandma etc)

Cause if u do, that mean u don't even have 1 drop of petrol in your car, & u have 2 push/tow it to a petrol station.
There was a topic on this issue before, & from memory the result are Manual GPX FTO gets around 520-550 on average per tank, & the Tip GPX gets around 480-530 per tank.
But it all depends how well u look after your car (how offen u had a tune up), whats your driving style, & what kind of driving u do daily (Highway or City)

I have a 95 GR tip....
On my average driving i get approx 9.5-10.5 litres per 100k's. I never let my fuel guage go much lower than 1/4 so i tend to do anything from 380-420km's before filling up. I drive just around the city mostly which includes the occasional putting the right boot through the floor. I took it for a drive east once on the highway and got pretty good mileage - around 7litres/100km's

My fuel economy stinks. I'd be lucky to get anywhere near 400ks on a tank, but it's all my fault as my car gets a lot of redline action.

If you do a search there is tons & tons of information.
I haven't had my car for long enought to try driving like a granny, but my driving style gets me 450km per tank.
ATM, I'm taking it relatively easy to see how far i can get, on BP Ultimate.
You will also find even a post i posted about BP vs Optimax, and heaps more info on different fuels.
I find that around town, engine care, & performance wise BP Ultimate is the way to go, but on the high ways, Caltex Vortex Gold, or what ever... Best 95RON fuel ever.

cool!
this all sound better than my brothers old 1.8Lt turbo 180sx.. (he was getting about 6k/l on relative leadfoot and 9k/l on highway..)
my gti i get 12k/l on lead foot city driving, and 16.5+k/l on highway.. 13k/l leadfoot average full tank, and 15k/l on granny city driving
35litres in a swift usually gets me 500k traveled. on average..
and 690 on extensive freeway driving. (melb to mildura)
but thats a 1.3litre engine for you.. (young engine and looked after)
thanks for the info fellas. Its not scaring me from getting an FTO, its all very similar to me mates TE magna.
do you get better mileage (when driving nicely) or noticeable performance increases from running P-ulp fuels?
i know my gti actually SOUNDS a lot gruntier when redlining it on premium..

its 575kms from my place to coffs harbour
my fto still has about 1/4 tank
my brothers gti has had to fillup already
oh also with filling up the tank mine can take 70litres when literally bone dry... tested this on a couple of occasions by putting in over 65 litres.

i used to average about 550-580kms per tank (fuel warning light comes on at about 565kms) with a combination of 35% freeway driving and 65% in normal traffic conditions... and yes, it does see the redline several times a week back then

:8)
oh and that was in NA form...
God knows what sort of mileage i'll be getting soon when my car is back on action LoL... makes me cringe when i think about today's petrol prices!

The worst I get is 8k/l when I have the climate control on and drive it hard, while I get 10k/l with freeway driving and the climate control off.
