Starter motor removal

I have unplugged/bolted the starter motor but I can't get the fricken thing out. It is loose and I have given it a good jiggle for an hour
I removed the exhaust heat shield to try and get some more room but still no luck
My car is a Tip if that makes a difference.

this may sound stupid, but have u loosened all the bolts? i havnt done it with the fto before but with my previous car, i had the same issue, had to put it on stand and remove a bolt from beneath to get it out

Yeah, there's just 2, plus a nut on the positive wire. It comes out of the engine by bout a centimetre but then it hits the exhaust from the front bank, I don't really want to remove the exhaust.

Yup, but if it becomes a real pain you can loosen off the front nuts and move the downpipe out of the way a bit on the flexi, it is only a few minutes extra work,

True ^
Can just undo the 2 nuts on either side that bolt the collector pipe to the headers. Leave it connected to the cat though, as there is enough flex in the flex section to move the whole pipe a good few inches out of the way.
They can be c**t nuts to undo mind you, rusted on good

If you think the FTO one is a bugger the guys at MG, in their infinite wisdom, decided that the mid mounted engine on a TF had such a large amount of extra space in it that the starter sould sit on top of the engine, buried underneath everyfeckinthing else they had decided to pack in there

Easier than say, a Falcon?
