What type of fuel do you use?

I was travelling down the fuel station today, and 3 guys came up to me and said I really shouldnt be using regular unleaded petrol.
So I was thinking, is our cars design to run on 98RON or just any petrol would do?
Would using 95 unleaded damage our cars, and what would be the benefit of using 98?
Also what type of fuel do you use?

Yep 98. FTO's are tuned for 100 in japan.

Your car will run fine on just 95, however if you start mivecing, the higher compression and heat could cause the fuel to combust sooner than it is supposed to which will lead to damage to your internals. So fill up with 98 and you won't have any problems.
Also, you should have noticed the "premium unleaded only" on the filler cap.

Definitely use 98 because the extra cost is worth knowing you're getting the most out of the engine safely. I've also noticed that 98 got me better mileage. I got an average 50km extra out of every tank compared to 95 or lower. These engines were tuned to run on a higher octane and anything less wont be as efficiently used.

Yeah Japan uses 100, so 98 is the closest I can get here so i use that. Get more km's on it and aparently its just better for the engine overall. The extra cost is worth it in my opinion.

my mate uses 98 here, I probably will too, even at the extra cost.
Using one of those 4c/L vouchers helps too.

How is it bad? You relies the in Japan they sell lower octane fuel as well? I've ran the Fto heaps on low octane and experienced no issues.
An engine should be able to compensate for a lower octane fuel.

If you're pushing the engine, the combination of higher pressure and heat caused by mivecing may cause the fuel to combust prematurely. It's the risk you run if you push the engine whilst running cheap fuel.

You would think people who own a car like the FTO would want to take the best possible care for it and thus do everything they can to treat it right like 98RON fuel..
Several servos around my area dont even sell 98, or are dodgy servos i dont trust, so i get an excuse to travel 10km to Matt's work to fill up (which is f**king hard to to scrape on the way out from i might add)
I have never used anything else so i cant confirm benchmark tests (although one time i filled up with about 2-3 litres of 95 at matilda before i realised their 'premium' fuel was 95 at that servo and stopped) but im sure that after a few tanks coming from 91 you will have a noticeable power and fuel economy gain (even though the power will be the smallest possible, you will still feel it if you are in tune with your car - i personally feel everything

)

I hate it when you can't find 98... A lot of places around here don't sell it, although it's not too hard to find somewhere with 98
My parents own a V6 Peugeot and only run 91 in it, sometime 95....

91 is ok to use. The ecu will adapt to it.
Premium fuel recommended, not a must.
Therefore 95 or 98 is recommend. Occasionally 91 is ok if u can't find any premium.
I personally dont feel any mileage difference between 95/98.
