Clutch replacement

After being looked at by a few machanics, they told me my clutch is going soon. I got no idea how they tell ==.
Im just wondering where to get a new clutch, and also what is the difference between HD clutch and standard clutch.
Also whats the price difference between the two, and whats the labour price to get it replaced?
Thanks

Think $700~ish total. $400 for clutch kit, $300 labour.
HD is the same clutch plate as a standard clutch plate, the obny difference is a stiffer diaphram (the spingy resistance when you put your foot on it.)
I'd recommend the Excedy heavy duty, number of people here have used it (including myself) and recommend it. Its not too heavy to use.

Good question though, how do you tell if the clutch is getting low without splitting the gearbox from the engine?
I didn't think you could...

Pedal engagement height usually, coupled with the odd crunch.

Yes I know it's easy to tell once it's failed or about to fail
Ben is there much difference between pedal height from a new and say 80% used clutch?

I can change a 4WD clutch in under 4 hours so $300.00 would be about right for a FWD.
