auto transmission

i have a full gpx auto box, with torque converter and all sensors (plus have 2 more input and output sensors for those with the facelift/3wire inputs). just a standard diff (dont know if its 27 or 25 spline, il count later on). i bought it 6 months ago off japan auto parts in brissy for $1300 ($1200 + 99 postage). it was for when my auto stuffed up, thought i could do a straight swap with my gpvr, turns out there are differences, like tranny mounts and something is missing/extra between the 2 auto boxes, transmission guys tried to chuck it in, but i had too little/many wires in my gpvr to make it work, and they could only get it to work in limp mode (said that its obviously a sensor mismatch problem), so i just bought a manual.

i don't know how many ks, they said very low k's :s, hence why it cost me so much,
im looking at $600, half what i bought it for and i have not driven with it. so a bargain. i couldnt return it as i kept it until my manual was installed (in case the manual wouldnt go in, then i would have just bought the wiring harness and ecu to suit the auto, so it was past its 3 month warranty.

preferred pick-up, i can go out to Melbourne or Ballarat, but will send at your expense

Do you still have your receipt from where you bought the box from? Will need it for VIV most likely so if you do I may consider it. :D

i have some photos of the receipt that came with the transmission, and i have the website, email and confirmation of payment email i sent, but no other paperwork on their behalf, except the photos of the receipt. in good enough detail for you to claim stuff on a viv except its all in my name and address. u can email them if u like them to print out a copy i guess

They aren't too heavy, just get a Sudanese to walk with it on their head for you.

That is very interesting, because I had the same problem. I chucked in a GPX 4spd tranny into my GPvR and it only works in limp mode. The N flashes and gets stuck in 2 and 3, otherwise if i pull the speed sensor out i get no working speedometer.

Are you absolutely sure you cant change the speed sensors around the work with the car? Or is my only option to buy a GPvR gearbox and chuck it in ?

any help is appreciated!

I changed the sensors to suit my plugs, i had a 5 speed tip originally, and chuked in a 5speed tip off a gpx, not sure if there is just a simple way out of it, i could have paid some auto gearbox/electricians to check it out, but took the option of converting it to manual for the same price, so it may have just been a case of switching around 2 wires on the harness, but il never know, guessing its bound to work with a ecu/harness change obviously. But my speedo was working and rpm, was just in limp mode

yeah the speedo and tacho work if its plugged in, but as you said, its in limp mode with a code that one of the threads state is a speed sensor mismatch.

what i'm sayin was it can run all 4 gears if i unplug the speed sensor. Any chance I can buy an input and output speed sensor off you to test?
