Sell or keep FTO?

Hi guys,
I've applied for a few places to live in Melbourne CBD however the ones that are better don't include a carpark. Because of this my FTO will have to stay at my parents house (over an hour away) and will be sitting there most of the time.

The lease is only 6 months, so after that I could find a closer place that includes a carpark and keep my car, but even then I won't get much use out of it.

Should I sell the car? In 2013 I'll be working full-time so I could purchase another FTO if needed.

Still undecided :\

I'm currently facing a similar dilemma.
That's the issue with caring about our cars!

Depends. Do you think you'll find a better example later on?

How many km's has yours done? What condition is the gearbox in? I know you've done a lot of work on the suspension and that's a big point. Do you want to turbo in the future?

The FTO market is crap atm. I'd think that (fingers crossed) all the sh*t examples of the FTO get junked in the next few years and only the strongest will survive, thus pushing the price up a bit for a better example. Yours is a GR, so resale value isn't great...

I will be able to get a better example later in. With people selling their FTOs dirt cheap I would only make $3000-$3500 in the condition it's in. (mainly due to the roof paint work).

KMs is 170000 and the transmission is in pretty good condition (I need to replace the lower engine mounts first).

I'm already going to pay $630 for rego in January so it's a lot of money for something I will most likely rarely be using :(

I'd sell if I were you. Sucks to think about it but no point letting it rust more and maybe get a GPX or GPvR later on.

Such a shame. Do you think I should keep it till at least June? (my insurance + lease is up then).

Keep it as long as you need it but I'd think there was more of a market after xmas when people are a little more cashed up. June might be good as tax time brings in the dough.

personally... if it doesnt have atleast a car 'spot' - keep looking,

you can never know when sh*t hits the fan and you have to jump in the car and rush somewhere

This is Melbourne CBD though. There are taxis everywhere and a few hospitals within 10 minutes of each other

Depends what my situation is like in the next 12 months. On one hand I love the FTO styling and what it offers for the price, on the other hand the car is 15 years old and it's getting harder and harder to find a nice example along with maintenance goes up every year.

I'll be out of uni in 2014 and in a full-time job where I can afford to live in a slightly better place that will include a carpark so I'll probably invest in a good car then. But that will probably be an FT-86 :)
