I'm praying it's just the battery
Ok so ever since I had sub and amp run battery light shows - installed properly wires are fine etc
Been driving for weeks etc this is the second time which my car would not start, jump started and it runs fine. Drove for like 5mins Kept it on idle played a little music and car dies again. Jump start. No music whatsoever drive for like 30mins. Turned off car. Starts again fine
Any idea? Battery or alternator? Anyone Got a rough idea on cost to fix alternator? (I assume I could go wreckers and possibly find one but brand new would be lots better)

Alternator is probably on its last legs and your battery isnt holding charge. Also change your terminals why your at it.

:sigh:
Ben's on the money, clearly you have a wiring problem with your new sub and amp.

I see what u mean. It's just that it's been weeks? If it was wiring wouldn't I have had problems after a day or so?

Short drives with loud bass will kill the battery. Doesnt get enough time to charge.

Take it to an auto electrician and get him to test the power draw with and without the music on. He should be able to tell you whether it's likely a wiring fault or not also. And test the alternator while you're at it. Shouldn't cost much if anything to test.

recondition cost about 200.
wreckers 2nd hand cost about 200+
new cost about 450.
ohh, note the different alternators between mivec 4pin and non-mivec 2pin.

Well i got my car back from the panel beater, and i think the alternator died, possibly too much jumpstarting... Drove home (20mins?) and still the car doesnt start.. the voltmeter jerks back when i tap on the brakes or turn on the parkers..
I also see the meter slowly go up to 16v when i rev the car.. so it looks like they might have killed my alternator.. what do you guys think?

Prob the regulator but use a multimeter to see wha the charge voltage is.

Basic test you can do with the multimeter, when the car off check the battery current.Start her up and check the current again.Should be 12volts or over.
