Hey guys,
just experienced a few problems with my transmission the last few days, the gear changes are sometimes jerky from gear 1 to 2 and from gear 4 down to gear 3 so I want to replace the fluid ASAP as it's pretty old.

I have been to both Autobarn and Supercheap and none of them stock the Z637 filter which is what I need (GR). I have a few spare Z411 filters however which is what the others use.

Would I be able to fit a Z411 instead of a Z637? I can only find the Z637 from online stores :\

You got manual? Bolt for the gear selector may be loose. Happened to me, wasn't able to put the car in reverse and had to jerk it into gears. There's no way I'd be able to describe where it is (bad at that sorta stuff ) Best I can do is...open you bonnet, and it's on the left of your engine block. Pain in the doodle to reach it too.

I just put som lock tight on it and tightened the mofo.

Nah automatic. Guess I'll have to wait later in the week for the part to get delivered :\

Quick stupid question

Is it ok to change from P > R > N > D etc. with the car on jack stands? I know when I change gears the car moves a tiny bit, I'm worried it will fall off. The e-brake will be on and my foot on the brake pedal as well.

Just don't floor it which changing and you'll be fine.

Ensure jack stands are under the car properly.

Z637 is the mitsubishi equivalent. It's a larger filter and doesn't cost much more.

Another thing to consider is the genuine filer is 20 ish bucks.

Filters are not filters. Transmission filters have larger holes in the filter to give you better oil pressure when cold. Transmission filters don't allow this so I go genuine only. Guess it's the safer bet.

If your oil seems to be still red. Have you looked at your engine mounts? A bad downshift could be caused by your mounts.

The oil that came out was black as lol I got about 6L out and I'm going to do another flush to clean it properly.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to change the filter yet as the current one is basically glued on :\

I'm checking the mounts tomorrow, from what I've been driving with and the dull thud coming from inside the engine bay on take off I also have a feeling it's the mounts.

Get a oil filter wrench onto it. I would not use the old filter with the new oil. Does the oil smell burnt?

Check your strut tops as well.

Should change the filter before putting in the new oil

Yeah I realised having the oil filter in there still is bad, but I had no choice as the oil was already drained and I needed my car

The new stuff should fix that, I have another 8L of transmission fluid to reflush.

I'm hoping the oil filter wrench will work. I got a pretty good grip on it but it's still stuck on.

Mate just get a long flat head, smash it through the filter and use it to twist!

Yeah I know. But these transmissions are expensive when they go!!

This is the only tool that I use for both engine and transmission that works for me.
