Hello,

I remember there was a thread about some one swapping their ECU or some thing with some one else's FTO and tried to get the MIVEC working...

If any one remembers could you please put the link?

I'm wondering about this as my MIVEC doesn't seem to work every now and then...when it goes over 5000rpm, it's not as noisy as before with the air filter sucking in air sound...dont get this any more and every now and then...

Any ideas?

does it bounce off a revlimiter at about 5-6k????

if so a sensor could be damaged... if its not kicking in at all there should be some sort of warning light come up but a MUT device would tell you exactly what's wrong

it did bounce once....on first gear at about 6krpm.

What kind of sensor am I supposed to be looking at?

Then the mivec worked fine after that. but ten it died again. On the way to work today I tried it on 2nd and 3rd gear past 5k rpm, and it's just a smooth transistion without any hard noise from the air filter!

What's going on?

Actually something like this happen to me before.

I had installed a S-AFC controller in my car . .. and than after a while . Mivec stop working. (even after I take that controller out !~)

But when mivec kick in it actually got the sound but not the power.

have a look at this guide to getting ecu codes. if your ecu hasnt been reset in a while thats something you can try (not check the codes first then try the reset, and check the codes a week or 2 later)

otherwise there are a number of sensors which tend to fail with age, while some of these might show up in an ecu code, you would proberbly need a mut II to extract them (the mut II in mitsu dealers will not do unless they have the fto module, which i havent seen anywhere except northshore)
btw to reset the ecu jsut disconnect the red terminal rom your battery for around 30-60 mins

I have already resetted my ecu when I was putting on my vaccume gauge.
I'm sure it took me more than 30 min to install. As I didn't know where the vaccume line was.

Now, the mivec doesn't come in at all, and no warning light on the dash...
So i might have to go to northshore mitsu?
does any one know if this is expensive to do?

No, I realised the MIVEC doesn't come on at all!

So when I rev it over 5krpm, the small cam still pushes it hard.....
No grunt or any power at all!

So does that mean i need to have my car tested at northshore and get them to fix the sensors?
