Oil on top of pistons

Hi guys,

I was helping a friend with his 6G72. 361,000km +
Tube seals were leaking, replaced them.
Now, took the spark plugs out and there is oil all over them including the thread and the igniting bit + oil on top of the pistons.

What could this be?
Valve stem seals?
Head gasket?
Piston rings?

Could be any or all of them I'm afraid, although I reckon you would have seen HG failure before now :(

Well, if it was piston rings would the oil actually be on top of the piston? Or would it all blow out?
I am thinking it's most likely valve stem seals which are leaking

At 361,000kms, agreed, could be all of them. I'd imagine those valve seals would be mighty hard & the bored rather glazed. Does it blow any smoke?

What torque are you nipping up the rocker cover bolts?

From some research it seems that hopefully some oil from the tubes just leaked down.
I did the torque by hand, not too tight. I didn't have a torque wrench to do it accurately

Copped the same thing. Was too lazy to clean the tube and the old oil leaked onto the new plug.
