FTO AUSTRALIA

Hi guys
recently i have got a FTO GR and nothing wrong with it,

but this morning when i use the car and driving it normally,

it suddenly stuck in 1st gear and not tend to shift.

the gear shifter is losing traction, i can move it up and down freely but not left to right or the other way.

can't even put it back on "N". someone say is a bushing problems and someone said is the shift linkage problem.

the car now can only driven in 1st, no "N", "2", "3","4", "5" and"R"*

hi there i am from Adelaide, i just get stuck on the drive way and has no ideas wt should i do....

u pretty sure the bracket was broken so sh*t happen??

Dont think it's the bracket unfortunately. Once it's in first the ECU should take over and if it's not changing then there is a problem.

Have a search for how to get the error codes and what their diagnosis means then get back to us.

Get under the bonnet get someone to cycle through the gears. There is something called an inhibitor switch which is right next to the transmission oil dip stick. Check to see if the lever is moving. If it is then it must be something you screwed in the gear selector as you say it's hard to move it side to side.

Unless it's in tiptronic first and it's not going to shift unless he hits limiter!

Its probably one of the locking cables jamming up. One of the 2 cables, 1 that runs to the brake pedal & the other to the ignition barrel from the shifter that stop you starting the car.

ha mine's fucked too now.
Last time this happened it was just a bolt which somehow fell out and i replaced it with a new one and locktite. This time I'm not too sure what's wrong...can't get reverse or 5th! Had to drive 30km on highway with 35 degree heat in 4th gear lol...

I searched when i got home friday and found a thread where people were saying something about the gear selector bracket and bennoz put up a photo of a mod. Now I can't find that thread anymore lmfao :s

Hey, I had the same thing happening to my manual gr a while ago. All I needed to do was to replace the gear shift cable and it worked fine again you can check if the cable is still connected to the gearbox. It should be in between the cabin and the gearbox (i think, has been a while haha). If its disconnected you probably should replace it

Wish i had this problem with my tip FTO. Transmission started smoking along with grinding noise then losing drive.
