Hello,

I just installed a vaccum gauge last night but it's not working.

Has any one installed one of these on their car?

The question I want to ask is, the vaccum hose that comes out of the throttle body via a very thin metal pipe and connects with a rubber hose down to another very thin metal pipe.
Now, I am assuming that this is the vaccum line. So I put a T piece inbetween and attached the gauge but it's not working.

Now, the thin metal pipe that's coming out from the bottom near the fire wall, where does that lead to?

Because if I block the tube that's leading to the thin metal pipe on the bottom near the fire wall, the gauge works, but if I leave every thing as it is all connected, it doesn't work.

Therefore, the conclusion I can come up with is that there are either a leak in my vaccum pipe some where...
Not sure what the problem is though...

Any one has any idea? Or at least know what I'm trying to say here?

So let me ask a simple question, where would the vaccum line be near the manifold in FTO?
Does any one know?
I have no idea where the vaccum line is near the engine...and I am told that it should be near the manifold.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Yeah vacuum line should be coming out of the intake manifold.

Brake booster works off engine vacuum, but i wouldn't advise tapping the booster line.

Try tracing the booster line and see if it merges into the manifold with other lines.

And which one is the booster line?

Intake manifold is the bit on top of the engine where your the pipe from your air filter gets piped into. You can recognise it from the 6 runners coming towards the center of the engine from the rear where the primary intake manifold is. It should have 2000 stamped on it.

I'm not sure where the brake booster line would be, but the large cylinderical object behind the brake fluid reservior is the brake booster. There will be a line coming out of that somewhere that should lead to the intake manifold.

Is the vaccum line on the bottom of the intake manifold?
Or on the side?

If you are talking about the little metal pipe that comes out near the air intake tube, then that's the one I am using...and if you follow that tube down, it'll come to another metal pipe and I have connected to that as well. And used the T piece to connect the gauge, but the gauge doesn't work.

Any ideas?

1) This end goes into your intake manifold

2) Originally this would of been hooked into (1)

3) This line goes to your vacuum gauge

4) This is a tee piece, however mine is quite interesting because it has like a hollow metal pin inserted into the end that connects pipe (3), I presume this is to lessen the vacuum going to the gauge, i have no idea whether this is how it is on all gauges, but all i know is, that my one works

It's just I cannot see where the No. 1 tube goes to....although if I follow it I should be able to find it...

So if I follow the tube no.2 towards the fire wall, I see a kind of a socket...and the tube covered in springy plastic cover stuck on to the fire wall....is this same for all FTOs? Cause I can't seem to find that.....Or has your's been moved out so that it was easier for you to mount the T piece?

I'm not really sure if that blakc socket is on all fto's...
It could be different, The number one pipe goes straigh into the intake manifold, you can't miss it...

I found the vaccume line you are telling me about and I have connected my gauge and it works beautifully!
It's so much fun now!

Just wish my MIVEC would kick in!!! But it doesn't!
