Anyone knows which dash board modification i should get to have the interior like fto-10.jpg in FTO Gallery->Top 10?

To me it looks like aluminium dash rings and white dials, both available from the FTO Shop to the right, and it also looks like the bulbs behind the dash have been changed to blue LEDs.

I did the led replacement on the weekend. Bought the 180 degrees leds (like the one on nokia mobile phones) at jaycar. Cost about $60 cause you have to double up in parts but ended up looking really good. Though I changed the light behind the climate controll to a really deep blue which makes it impossible to see during the day. Have to go back to green I guess.

I've never seen a 180 degree LED, and nothing over 100 degrees in Australia. Do you have some more information on these?

I can only imagine that with such a broad angle the light output is fairly low (probably under 100mcd).

If we could find bright LEDs (1,000+ mcd) with this sort of angle (100+ degrees), it would eliminate a lot of problems with dash lighting.

They are only 30mcd. We had to run them in series of two for behind the dash but once thats done its comparable to the light that was there before. I cant imagine how bright a 1000mcd would be as the ones we used were quite bright. Behind the climate control there were vauge brightspots but I think if we were to angle them to the opisite sides of the screen that would be illiminated. Cause there so small the apain to solder but once you do a few its gets easier.

OK, so they're 30mcd and have a 90 degree light dispersion, not 180 degree, this makes more sense.

I'm a little surprised that you consider them bright enough, 30mcd should be a fairly dull light when mounted behind the dials.

It would have cost you slightly more, but you probably would've got a better result using T10 wide angle LEDs from somewhere like Autobarn, and you also wouldn't have had to worry about the soldering as they already have the resistor on them for 12v use.

So what where the T10's rated at ?mcd. Im going to put a post with my painted dash and led mod by the end of the week.

The blue is a funny colour because its really bright with no other light but add any sort of sunlight and it dissappears. But I gotta say at night its fantastic.

I dont doubt the t10's might be a better option however we wanted to do it then and there and jaycar is around the corner. Besides with out trial and error how are you going to learn. All in all Im happy with the results brightness/effect but Ill post some pics for you to see.

The colour temperature of blue (and white) is close to that of normal daylight, so in sunlight it appears less bright. Hence the need for higher rated LEDs (or different colour).
