Upgrading brakes - do I need mod approval and pits?

If I upgrade GR to GPX brakes (or Willwoods etc) do I need to get mod approval and put it through the pits?

if your going to upgrade your brakes, i would suggest bigger and better one, i have a gpx, and while the brakes r good, they can heat up pretty quick if your giving her a good run,
just a thought,
ill be doing mine when i do my running gear and engine etc

You only need to get them engineered if you change the original hub mount points - ie using a custom mount bracket.
For a straight GPX upgrade you'd have no problems.

im going to have to agree with connor depending on what your budget is.
I know that RPW has an very nice evo 3 brake conversion for 1100 that includes slotted rotors, 2 pistons, green stuff pads and braided brake lines, which im eventually going to get when i get that far down the list.
Otherwise my brakes (GPR) are fine and do the job well if im not being stupid, although i feel fade a bit too fast for my liking, so i would look at getting them slotted if your budget (once again) can allow it.
Hope that helps

If you're feeling fade u need to run pads with a higher temp capability. Slotted rotors don't actually reduce brake fade.

I thought that was caused by the gases building up from not having suitable venting (i.e. slotted rotors). Dont know where the hell i got that idea then, or im probably confusing two things for one another
Also, connor - how much is you budget? I mean you can go out and get some standard slotted FTO rotors for as cheap as 170 (front).
However personally i would go out and just get the package, as it even comes with good pads.
End of the day, if you only have 170 for brakes, only spend 170. If your like me you will never be satisfied unless you have top shelf s**t and will waste thousands on sometimes unnecessary upgrades, purely to have the best.

yes but that only has a very minor effect. In fact if you research it there are two opposite opinions on slotted rotors, one being that they have no affect on braking at all. Personally I prefer to run slotted rotors primarily to keep the pads 'clean', whether they do or not is another matter lol!
But brake fade is all about overheating pads.

I agree, slotting does have an effect but very minimal. Pads are the clincher. You could have all the slots in the world but with sh*tty pads and you will still get brake fad however roles reversed, best brakes in the world w/ no slots and you will get no brake fad (on a fto)
