Hi,

My central locking in the fto wasn't working for a while but suddenly it seems to work again fine. It must be the cold weather....heheehe.

Have a good day all, Mario

the central locking issue mainly occurs when the actuators over heat, so there's a good chance this will re-occur when temperatures rise again or if you open and close the doors a bit.

I've been gettin the same prob recently but i have a question, ive got an aftermaket alarm, now i didnt install it myself but the central locking should b running off the alrms actuators as the original ones ive been told r kinda dodgy??

if that the case then i shouldn't be gettin trouble with them over heating, especially not in this weather as its winter rite now and i didnt get it in summer!! so is there any other reason this would b happening and any way to fix it??

mine on the passenger side has allready stopped working, i am so annoyed i have to explain how to open the door to every person that gets in my car, their so bad i have to hold the lock back while pulling the handle.

i know i need to get this fixed soon, can anyone give me a rough price on what it will cost me for new acctuattor and labor?

ive heard about 60 - 80 for acctuators and 50- 100 for labor but not sure.

that after i lock it...
i cant open the car with the remote
and when i use the key it opens...
but then i cant use central locking until i turn the accesories on and it will work again when i turn the car off

The actuators cost about $10 from Jaycar, a little more for the drivers side one I think.

I think the "master" ones were about $15

as for labour ... about 30-45 mins. I didn't even bother removing or disabling the old one, just disconnected all it's leads.

i heard a rumor that the stock acctuators work with an 8 second charge, which can burn out new acctuators which only require 2 - 4 seconds.

any one know about this?

The 8 second charge is what burnt out mine, so double check before putting the new ones in or you can burn them out too!

8 seconds is apparently the standard for Mercedes and many alarms are set up that way, so adjust your alarm to 2 seconds and all should be fine.

I posted more info about this in another thread, so do a search if you want more detail.
