As the topic says... I need to drain my fuel...

She's out of date and the microtech hates it...

I've got 3/4 of a tank too...

Anyone know of an easy way to drain it?

I just popped the internal lid off the tank & used an el-cheapo plastic hand pump from Supercheap.

Just drill a hole in the bottom. Make sure to keep your ciggie in your mouth though as you dont want to get it wet...may put the bugger out.

Disconnect the return feed line to the tank and connect up an external pump, this will get all but 10lts out.

Or you could disconnect the fuel line under the rear of the car, connect another length of hose to this and use the internal pump hard wired to 12v to pump out most of the fuel.

Only way to get it all out is to have a drain hole fitted.

what about taking the fuel tank out and getting any sediment out? my previous car had about 3/4 inch of MUD the whole tank bottom, huge eye opener, clean her out properly. and would take less time than pumping just tipping it upside down. i think anyway. does anyone know how to remove the tank? how many bots and are they easy to get at and remove the whole thing?

Pulling the tank is easy. Couple of pipes & 4 bolts to undo.

When I took mine off it was as clean as a whistle in there.

question ,couldnt you just disconect the line to the engine and put a hose on it and put power to the pump via the plug on top ( no need to open tank and hand pump and the engine wont be on so cant do any damage )

You will need plenty of containers to drain the tank that way and even though the pump can displace a lot of petrol it still takes a while.

On the other hand, all you need to do is open the bonnet, disconnect the fuel hose then put a wire from the live battery terminal to the black electrical terminal on the bulkhead. It's the remote pump access so you can test for fuel pressure leaks, etc from the engine bay.
