'Stupid Questions'

Post by aznfto »

Hey, i just had a few 'stupid questions', me knowing practically nothing about cars over a year ago, i didnt even know how to fill up petrol but have come a long way. I own a Black Manual FTO GPX 1995? Well here a few questions:
- Whats involved in fixing a gearbox because mine works except my 5th gear which i cannot put it into because I "squashed a plate or something'. What are the costs? Should i get a used one?
- Whats with unleaded E10, like petrol costs me a fair bit and im poor as it is, i know its petrol with 10% ethanol but was wondering what cars would use this.
-What sorta wheels fit the FTO? i understand the different dimensions of rims aswell as tyres but hearing that people have 16 inch to 18 inch wheels sort of confuse me.
-What is stock in an FTO, like the colour of stock springs? My springs are green and driving around with small bumps which i try avoid but its not such a smooth ride and it doest feel right. Upon purchasing my car, i was unaware about what was standard and what was modifed. I've noticed my exhaust is loud/bigger, i've got an air flow converter thingy and instead of a clock on my dial its some other odometer which looks off >.< Also the dealer told me that the strut braces were new, they're silver with blue rings.
Anyways i'll post more questions if they come to mind but answer/ comment what you can. :)

Dont use E10. If you can't afford premium, don't use the car.

Green springs are Teins. Notoriously stiff in standard guise.

98 gives you more mileage so it won't cost too much more if compared to e10 with mileage/litre/price.

I know the fuel price went crazy nowadays.
Last week, I pumped the bp 98 @ the rate of 159.99 :cyclopsani:

You shouldn't even be putting in regular unleaded let alone E10, use a minimum of 95 but I would highly recommended 98 octane. If you give your engine sh*tty petrol it'll just come right back to bite you in the ass in the not too distant future.

By the sounds of it you don't have too bad a setup... (except for the gearbox thing)
And +1 only use premium! E10 is a HUGE no-no!

lol, hate to break this but, J used to use E10 in the black GR (now kate's fto) Until I convinced him to use premium

But that's no biggie, that was the old engine, the engine in it now was fed with 98's..
