FTO AUSTRALIA

Hey Guys,

Got this car as a part payment from a guy out at Toowoomba for one of my cars. There was a few things we were aware of when we got it (fucked front engine mount, front steering racks etc) However, I have a mate of mine whos been in the car scene in QLD for quite sometime and said he is 99% sure that this is the FTO he was thinking of that was once under water? It has an odd smell inside guy said it'd just been detailed and this was the smell that was in it when he got it back, doesn't smell moist but an odd smell none the less... I'm going to pull some sh*t up tomorrow to check for rust etc... But if anyone could give me any background info on it at all would be much appreciated.

Now as for an FTO/ your FTO being under water I can not recall any thing about it.
Maybe at some point the heater core could have gone, giving you that smell.

i do remember years back about a red fto with flood damage but couldnt say if this was it

im sure you've done the usual, pull up the carpets etc

Nothing wrong with it, he drove it like a baby and hardly ever.
And no its definetley never been underwater.
The smell is probably the new dye they put in the seats as they had faded a little bit.

Yeah got it from Pete. Only thing we found on inspection at his was the front engine mount and the steering racks minus what he told me (moon seals and tappet noise), which are nothing to fix. I haven't had a day off yet since I got it. First day off tomorrow. Will be ripping some stuff up tomorrow to have a look and more thorough inspection of the engine etc

yeah its in pretty good nick man, hes had it resprayed in areas as well dude due to the common problem of having a red car and the sun.
Im pretty sure its the second engine in it i cant remember but it has less km's than the chassis. Im pretty sure he just drove it to work and back.

Did he tell you it has GTO brakes on it?

and yeah theres no rust in it, ive already looked cos i wanted to see if he had the same spots as me. so its all good there.

Tappets = labor $$$$$

Na, didn't mention brakes... It'll be getting another re-spray... Whoever did it for him had to be a back yard job or someone who had no idea, especially the boot it's horrid. It's good to have one mate who does everything from engine rebuilds to resprays xD

Well hopefully he has the correct tool for the tappets

Which car did he buy off ya?

He got my Sil80. Think he said doesn't get his opens for a few months though. So hopefully he bangs a 25 or something in it.
