Engine light AND TCL Light showing together?

For some reason, my engine light and TCL light both come on at around the same time. They'll come on sometimes when I'm driving and will remain on until i stop and switch the car off.
If I come back later to drive it, they'll stay off for anywhere up to a couple of days... Then it returns...

I'm trying to work out if you want to help me or be a pain in the arse... :?

As for not knowing my way around a car, I've actually ordered MUTII datalogging software and the correct interface cables, as I'm setting up a real-time data logging system via a carputer. The carputer will be a full custom build, with the software slightly customised to suit.

Basically, I'd like to be able to view all the 'vital signs' as they happen...

Thanks for the links, but I'd seen both of them. I was just hoping someone may have already encountered the exact same issue and resolved it, rather than checking the engine codes straight up.

It sounds like a sensor or connector but yes you will need to check error codes to correctly diagnose.

Slightly OT ;)

How much for this and where did you order it from?
Does this software just install on Windows?

Could be useful ;)

Cheers.

The FTO uses a mash up of different protocols, it isn't straight OBD or OBD II, good luck ;)

Hahahaha... Some people would say it's over the top, but I suppose I'd say I don't do things by halves. lol

I bought the EvoScan software and the MUTII to USB compatible cable.

Yes, it installs on Windows and allows you to make custom gauges, which can then be displayed on a monitor in the car.

I did the research prior to buying the gear and found that it has compatibility with the FTO, so it's all good. :)

A quick flick through the site will give you all the pricing details you need.

Plus, you can get a discount on the software if you purchase the cable at the same time.
