Today as I was crusing along with some friends, my thrust bearing (I believe) went out on me. What happens now is the clutch/gearbox screams like a little girl as I take off in 1st, it grinds on and off as I'm on and off the power AND I have no 4th gear, it just spits it straight back out.

I have ordered a new thrust bearing from camskill today, what I'd like to know is;

Will the new thrust bearing be a temp. fix until I can source a new clutch?
Have I done any damage to the gearbox?
Have I done any damage to my clutch?
and, is there anything I should do while I have my gearbox out?

Also, whats the normal delivery time from the UK to Aus?

lol, that aint a thrust bearing, that a collapsed primary shaft bearing Im guessing.

Start looking for a second hand box.

hmm, just thinking about it. an auto box should have the same bearings and sh*t as manual, but just a bit more sh*t compacted into the same casing, right? so if I did get hold of your old box, would I be able to use the internals to say, rebuild whats been damaged in mine?

Camskill sell the 2 input and 2 output shaft bearings for the manual box.

If you are going to the effort of a rebuild, there is no way I would be using second hand parts.

Depends.... depends what part needs replacing. Bearings yes, I'd buy new. Sycros, the same, would buy new, but gears for instance, second hand would be fine if in good nick.

If you get it out & to a place that'll repair it, and if they can tell exactly what need replacing, I may be able to help.

I've got an entire box in peices in my garage. Its got some fucked bits, but majority of the parts are good.

I'll be taking it out in the next week or so. Not looking forward to it...

Money I can't really afford to be spending but, whatever.

Manual boxes aint that expensive to get rebuilt. Last one I had done was only $700.
